As contaminants are often present in aquatic environments as mixtures, they may interact with each other and affect living organisms differently than when tested individually. Emerging pollutants such pharmaceuticals microplastics can be influenced by various environmental factors, UV/Vis radiation being among the most significant. This study aimed to evaluate photodegradation of antidepressant duloxetine presence four types microplastics. Acute toxicity was using Spirotox assay, concentration determined HPLC-DAD analysis, resulting products were HPLC-MS/MS. Following 1 2 h exposure a sunlight simulator, concentrations decreased nine thirteen times, respectively, while its protozoa only two three times. The samples did not either process or duloxetine. HPLC-MS/MS analysis revealed 34 products. In silico T.E.S.T. program for protozoan Tetrahymena pyriformis indicated that one-third photoproducts toxic, found much more toxic high one these compounds confirmed test.

Microplastics (MPs), as an emerging contaminants category, can undergo complex aging in a variety of environmental matrices which the chemical bonds polymer molecules be broken to form free radicals. Aged plastics possess diverse interactive properties with metals compared to pristine ones. However, the role of aging for nanoplastics (NPs) in being a carrier mercury (Hg), common marine environmental pollutant, and their combined effects remain unclear. This study investigated effect ultraviolet-aged NPs on Hg ensuing toxicity copepod Tigriopus japonicus under multigenerational scenario. revealed better bioaccumulation than ones, which was increased by 1.61, 1.52, 1.54 times F0, F1, F2, respectively, probably attributed levels O-containing functional groups adsorption Hg. Consequently, relative alone, aged (rather ones) significantly compromised copepod's fitness, e.g., survival rate decreasing 74.2 62.1% F1 respectively. is possibly linked most pronounced transcriptomic response NPs, including disturbed cuticle formation, activated antioxidants, down-regulation reproductive genes. The physiochemical properties of graphene oxide may be affected by sunlight irradiation. However, the underlying mechanisms that alter and subsequent intergenerational effects are not sufficiently investigate. Epigenetics is an early sensitive marker for nanomaterial exposure due to epigenetic memory. In this study, we investigate changes in physicochemical maternal simulated sunlight-irradiated polyethyleneimine-functionalized (SL-PEI-GO). Results show (PEI-GO) can altered significantly oxidation carbon atoms with unpaired electrons present defects on edges PEI-GO sunlight.
