Microplastics

heavy
metal
contamination
frequently
co-occur
in
stormwater
filtration
systems,
where
their
interactions
may
potentially
compromise
nitrogen
removal.
Current
research
on
microplastics
Cd
predominantly
focuses
soils
constructed
wetlands,
with
limited
attention
given
to
systems.
In
this
study,
the
single
synergistic
effects
of
aged
polyethylene
(PE)
cadmium
(Cd)
infiltration
systems
were
investigated
from
perspectives
removal,
microbial
community
structures,
predicted
functional
genes
cycling.

showed
that
PE
demonstrated
stronger
inhibition
NO3−–N
removal
than
Cd.
