This research focused on the level, pollution, and ecological risk assessment of selected heavy metals from agricultural soils at major roadsides in Nasarawa Eggon Doma areas. Composite soil samples were collected 0–20 cm depth, homogenised, assayed for metal (As, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Hg, Mn, Ni, Pb, U Zn) levels using X–ray fluorescence technique. Pollution toxicity studied determined by evaluating enrichment factor (Ef), geo–accumulation index (Igeo), contamination (Cf), degree (Cd), pollution load (PLI), (ERA). The result showed that concentrations As, Fe Ni lower than average shale values, except As site N2 area D4 area. Ef suggests a significant anthropogenic contribution to presence Pb Zn some sampled sites. Igeo indicated polluted Hg while Co those Doma. Cf values revealed most contaminated with addition All sites have low Cd N4 (Nasarawa Eggon) D2 (Doma). However, PLI only polluted. ERA posed potential risks ranging level different Sites N2, moderate index. Therefore, this study inputs automobile emissions human activities along roads could pose negative health implications animal health.

The existence of soils contaminated with organochlorine pesticides represents a serious environmental problem. In this work, real soil hexachlorocyclohexanes (ΣHCH = 373 mg kg−1), persistent organic pollutants included in the Stockholm Convention, was remediated. Surfactants were used to enhance solubilization and activated persulfate (PS) oxidation degrade pollutants. Solubilization experiments performed evaluate effect surfactant (sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), Emulse-3® (E3) Tween-80® (T80)), pH, reagents addition order concentration (Csurfactant 0–10 g L−1, CNaOH 0–13.5 L−1). selection attending their ability solubilize chlorinated compounds (COCs). use surfactants improved COCs solubilization, especially at pH > 12; conditions which HCHs hydrolyze trichlorobenzenes (TCBs), higher solubility. concentration, emulsion. 83 % 89 achieved three consecutive cycles highly alkaline using SDS E3, respectively (T80 unstable). resulting emulsions treated by PS alkali intensified temperature. conversion 30 96 when treating E3 SDS-emulsions (72 h), respectively, highlighting suitability for integrated process.

The study was aimed at comparing the effect of oil, diesel fuel, and motor oil on capillary moisture capacity hygroscopic content gray forest soil, as well assessing changes in these characteristics oil-contaminated soils following their washing with polysorbate 80. Water a solution (with detergent concentrations 1, 5, 10 g/L) were added to soil be continuously mixed for 1 h 20 °С using shaker (60 rpm). analyzed agrophysical are shown decrease when contaminated 50, 150, 300 mL/kg. is more pronounced than those fuel similar concentrations, while is, conversely, less pronounced. 80 partially restored characteristics; however, they remained lower original samples. effectiveness also confirmed by reduction phytotoxicity samples solutions. At level contamination up 150 mL/kg, solutions containing 5 g/L found effective, whereas it recommended increase concentration g/L. weight ratio solution, water 1:1:4. Thus, prospects mitigate negative impact demonstrated.
