On China's Loess Plateau (CLP), shifts in land use are particularly influential altering soil microbial communities. While one might expect between grassland, forest and arable to affect communities, the specific ensuing responses of bacterial fungal diversity composition on CLP poorly understood. Soil among CLP's native grasslands, afforested lands, 'abandoned' lands (fallow roughly 10 years 2020) were determined using high-throughput sequencing 16S rRNA ITS genes. A comparison types showed abandonment grassland afforestation have had a negligible impact α-diversity but result significantly lower diversity. Grassland also increased richness. Both β-diversity differed uses. Conversion abandoned altered relative phylum-level abundance bacteria (except that Acidobacteria), not phyla. only influenced fungi (<10 % except Proteobacteria). The quantity above- below-ground biomass properties explained most variation Having important ecological implications, these findings can inform management decisions study area similar ecologically-fragile regions.
