Introduction Bacteria are an essential component of glacier-fed ecosystems and play a dominant role in driving elemental cycling the hydrosphere pedosphere. However, studies bacterial community composition mechanisms their potential ecological functions from alluvial valley mountain glaciers extremely scarce under cold arid environments. Methods Here, we analyzed effects major physicochemical parameters related to soil on compositions Laohugou Glacier No. 12 perspective core, other, unique taxa explored functional characteristics. Symbiotic diazotrophs form associations with legumes and substantially fix nitrogen into soils. However, grasslands on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau are dominated by non-legume plants, such as Kobresia tibetica . Herein, we investigated diazotrophic abundance, composition, community structure in soils roots of three K. humilis legume Oxytropis ochrocephala , using molecular methods targeting nifH gene. Diazotrophs were abundantly observed both bulk rhizosphere soils, well all but their abundance varied plant type soil. In showed highest diazotroph whereas had lowest. roots, O. lowest respectively. The exhibited similar distinct from plants. Interestingly, root structures similar. more diverse than those Rhizosphere Actinobacteria, while Verrumicrobia Proteobacteria. Alphaproteobacteria. These findings indicate that free-living diversely occur grassland suggesting these may play important roles fixing plateau.
