This work presents a large-scale surface disinfection system, which has unique lantern arrangement of ultraviolet-C (UV-C) light (254 nm) in conjunction with nanotechnology protective biosafety environment. Shadow regions are best dealt this system by the generation hydroxyl radicals (•OH) and negative air ions at sites where UV cannot penetrate. More than 35 000 ions/cm3 along •OH were produced continuously chamber through advanced photocatalytic oxidation process [UV-C + titanium dioxide (TiO2)]. The been made to provide an optimized irradiation (∼2 mW/cm2) throughout system. In order distinguish between effects arising from (i) action dose alone (ii) ions, E. coli P. aeruginosa chosen for bacterial testing two interventions made. first intervention involved placing only lamps see effect on inactivation efficiency. second TiO2 nanoparticle coated aluminum plates lamps; allows inside enhanced 95% efficiency reported case UV-C compared 77% same time interval (90 s).
