Soil contamination with heavy metal(loid)s may influence microbial activities in the soil, and consequently jeopardize soil health. Microbial responses to play an important role ecological risk assessment. This study investigated effect of on community structure abundance surrounding abandoned antimony (Sb) smelter Qinglong county, Guizhou province, Southwest China. A total 46 samples were collected from ten sampling sites (labelled as A–I, CK) across area at depths 0–2, 2–10, 10–20, 20–30, 30–40, 40–50 cm. The analyzed for bioavailable metal(loid) concentrations, bacterial, fungal, archaeal structures, diversities, functions, together basic physicochemical properties. Much greater Sb arsenic (As) was present surface (0–2 cm) compared that subsoils. dominant microorganisms tended be associated pH (i.e., Sb, As, lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr)). Bacteria IMCC26256, Rhizobiales, Burkholderiales, Gaiellales, archaea Methanocellales estimated tolerant high concentrations As soil. In addition, magnitude order > bacteria fungi. contrast negligible response fungi negative contamination, there a strongly positive correlation between activity Our findings provide theoretical basis remediation smelter-affected
