Abstract Extreme high thermal conditions on tropical rocky shores are challenging to the survival of intertidal ectotherms. Yet, many species highly successful in these environments part due their ability regulate intrinsic mechanisms associated with physiological stress and metabolic demand. More recently, there has been a growing awareness that other extrinsic mechanisms, such as animal-associated microbial communities, can also influence tolerance ectotherms under stressful conditions. However, extent which functionally linked overall adaptive response animals temperature change is poorly understood. Here, we examined dynamics potential interactions high-supratidal oyster, Isognomon nucleus . We found oysters modulate internal biochemistry (oxidized PUFA products, including 5-F 2t -IsoP, 10-F 4t -NeuroP, 13-F 16-F 1t -PhytoP) regulation cope during periods extreme temperatures when emersed. while detected variation alpha diversity (ASV richness Shannon index), dominant taxa functions across time, no association was host biochemical profiles. ABSTRACT Microorganisms are vital for the health of marine invertebrates, and their assembly is driven by both deterministic stochastic factors that regulate residents (innate to host) transients (from ambient water). However, role water microbiota significance processes in aquatic hosts facing mortality threats largely unknown. This study examines shifts during an oyster event using amplicon sequencing compared with those resident oysters disentangle balance involved. Water temperature dissolved oxygen significantly shape microbial community a distinct monthly pattern, Cyanobacteria blooms might exacerbate mortality. The comparative analysis communities revealed ≤ 21% genera were shared between water, implying cannot easily transfer into oysters. Furthermore, these had different functions, more involved promoting host digestion nutrient acquisition bacteria enriched functions own growth survival. These findings illustrate may possess specific selection or barrier mechanisms permit small percentage transients, controlled having minimal effect on mortality, enter, whereas majority governed factors. Consequently, exhibit some plasticity symbiotic microbiota, enabling them maintain homeostasis adapt complex surroundings. be mechanism among invertebrates survival environments. We aimed to determine the potential predictive value of intra-tumoral microbiome as a marker response external beam radiation therapy (EBRT) in cervical cancer (CC). A prospective longitudinal trial 36 CC patients receiving pelvic radiotherapy was designed investigate microbial characteristic signatures and diversity (alpha beta) multiple sites (tumor, vaginal, gut, urethral, oral) superior (SR) inferior (IR) groups by 16S rRNA sequencing. Utilized least absolute shrinkage selection operator (LASSO) logistic regression method analyze clinicopathological factors that potentially influenced efficacy EBRT. LEfSe analysis highlighted features best distinguished categorized patient samples. Selected parameters were validated with Spearman correlation analysis, receiver operating (ROC) area under curve (AUC) Kaplan-Meier survival analysis. Firstly, our cohort, LASSO revealed no association between EBRT efficacy. Subsequently, we employed sequencing compare differences across their correlations major factors. discovered independent clinicopathologic represented most direct reliable reflection SR IR groups. found lower alpha tumor group identified relevant taxa (Bifidobacteriaceae, Beijerinckiaceae, Orbaceae) associated patients. then conducted ROC finding specific had an AUC 0.831 (95% CI, 0.667–0.995), indicating these biomarkers for predicting showed better prognosis higher relative abundance Bifidobacteriaceae. Our data suggested may play important role sensitivity offer novel

Background: Planctomycetota isolation in pure culture is still challenging with most of the reported data coming from molecular-based methods. Here, we intended to isolate filter-feeder Pacific oyster Magallana gigas, extending search a not yet explored natural reservoir and characterize their antimicrobial resistance phenotype. Methods: Oyster samples different supermarkets farm producer were subject selective medium. Inoculation was performed shell biofilm after an enrichment edible content. Results: isolates (n = 65) only obtained four species identified: Rhodopirellula baltica 62), rubra 1), heiligendammensis 1) Gimesia chilikensis 1). This study reports first association members oysters description R. Portugal. Moreover, rubra, originally identified Portugal, isolated French origin. Antibiotic susceptibility testing, conducted strains belonging two never assayed before revealed multidrug phenotypes bacteria showing several classes clinically relevant antibiotics (e.g., β-lactams aminoglycosides). Conclusion: The ecological role impact on holobiont and, ultimately, public health, under One Health concept, discussed.
