Abstract Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a devastating neurodegenerative disease characterized by the selective loss of motor neurons. A bidirectional communication system known as “microbiota-gut-brain” axis has regulatory function in disorders. The impact probiotics on ALS through remains uncertain. longitudinal investigation was conducted to examine alterations structure ileum and colon mutant superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1 G93A ) transgenic mice models using immunofluorescence Western blotting. Background/Objectives: The integration of microbiome and metabolome data could unveil profound insights into biological processes. However, widely used multi-omic analyses often employ a stepwise mining approach, failing to harness the full potential datasets leading reduced detection accuracy. Synergistic analysis incorporating microbiome/metabolome are essential for deeper understanding. Method: This study introduces Coupled Matrix Tensor Factorization (CMTF) framework joint data, overcoming these limitations. Two CMTF frameworks were developed factorize microbial taxa, functional pathways, metabolites latent factors, facilitating dimension reduction biomarker identification. Validation was conducted using three diverse datasets, including built environments human gut samples from inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) COVID-19 studies. Results: Our results revealed biologically meaningful biomarkers, such as Bacteroides vulgatus acylcarnitines associated with IBD pyroglutamic acid p-cresol outcomes, which provide new avenues research. consistently outperformed traditional methods in both detection, offering robust tool uncovering relevant insights. Conclusions: Despite its stringent requirements, reliance on stratified microbial-based pathway abundances taxa-level contributions, this approach provides significant step forward multi-omics analysis, applications across biomedical, environmental, agricultural

The indoor microbiome is a dynamic ecosystem including pathogens that can impact human health. In this regard, the school environment represents main living space of humans for many years, and an unhealthy significantly condition students’ School rooms suffer from insufficient ventilation use building materials may favor pathogen contamination, mostly sanitized by conventional chemical-based methods, which pollution, have temporary effects, induce selection antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in persistent microbes. search sustainable effective methods to improve healthiness classroom environment, pre–post case–control study was performed Italian high school. Over year, different interventions were sequentially placed evaluated their on bioburden air quality, introduction plants, mechanical system, probiotic-based sanitation (PBS) substitution chemical sanitation. Through continuous microbial monitoring enrolled rooms, via culture-dependent -independent remarkable level detected at baseline (around 12,000 20,000 CFU/m2, before after classes, respectively), composed Staphylococcus spp. fungi. Some decrease fungal contamination observed following plants. Still, most significant associated AMR PBS, decreased >80% (p < 0.001) up 3 Log10 compared controls. Collected data support combined strategies quality confirm PBS effectively control spread not only sanitary environments.

Introduction Rhinitis is one of the most prevalent chronic respiratory diseases worldwide. There emerging evidence suggesting that indoor microbiome may contribute onset and exacerbation rhinitis symptoms, but comprehensive studies on this topic remain scarce. Methods In study, we assessed assemblage settled air dust collected in Petri dishes 86 dormitory rooms Shanxi University, China using 16s rRNA sequencing. A self-administered questionnaire, including questions about symptoms personal information, was completed by 357 students residing these dormitories. Logistic linear regression model applied to examine associations between environmental characteristics, microbiome, rhinitis. Results The abundant genera dormitories were Ralstonia (15.6%), Pelomonas (11.3%), Anoxybacillus (9.3%) Ochrobactrum (6.2%). Abstract Shifts in gut microbial diversity and structure are one route by which vertebrate hosts adapt to local environmental conditions. However, recent studies have mostly been limited a single species, small sample sizes, or restricted geographic ranges. Therefore, drawing global picture of microbiome diversity, community structure, determinants for their adaptive shifts remains be elucidated. We here collected 6508 samples from 113 species covering diverse classes, feeding behaviors, host habitats based on 16S rRNA gene sequencing. The results showed that diet pattern had significant impact variation, might drive taxonomic functional contents across vertebrates. Of note, the phylum Fusobacteria were enriched carnivorous while herbivorous selectively increased abundance Verrucomicrobia. Also, climate factors strongly associated with variation Interestingly, we found microbiota belonging Bacteroidetes gradually members Proteobacteria decreasing trend high‐ low‐latitude zones, potentially contributing adaptation condition. Additionally, comprehensively deciphered common antibiotic resistomes potential mobility between terrestrial ( n = 487) sympatric soil biological environment 203) integrating metagenomic sequencing datasets. Particularly, horizontal resistance genes (e.g., bacA ) transfers detected vertebrates environment. Together, our findings provide new evidence how external affect variation.

Urban development has profoundly reduced human exposure to biodiverse environments, which is linked a rise in disease. The 'biodiversity hypothesis' proposes that contact with diverse microbial communities (microbiota) benefits health, as diversity promotes immune training and regulates function. Soils sandpits urban childcare centres may provide microbiota support immunoregulation at critical developmental stage child's life. However, the influence of outdoor substrate (i.e., sand vs. soil) surrounding vegetation on these environmental remains poorly understood. Here, we used 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing examine variation bacterial soils across 22 Adelaide, Australia, plus impact plant species richness habitat condition communities. We show had distinct lower alpha than soils. In addition, found centres' yards influenced but not sandpits. These results demonstrate composition centre sandpit soil are shaped by type, also within centres. Accordingly, there potential modulate children health-associated managing substrates around
