Abstract Aluminum in its Al 3+ form is a metal that inhibits plant growth, especially acidic soils (pH < 5.5). Rapid and accurate quantitative detection of agricultural critical for the timely implementation remediation strategies. However, detecting ions requires time-consuming preparation samples, using expensive instrumentation non-portable spectroscopic techniques. As an alternative, electrochemical sensors offer cost-effective minimally invasive approach situ quantification ions. Here, we developed validated sensor based on bismuth-modified laser-induced graphene (LIG) electrodes range relevant to agriculture (1–300 ppm). Our results show linear 1.07–300 ppm with variation coefficient 5.3%, even presence other (Pb 2+ , Cd Cu ). The offers limit (LOD) 0.34 (LOQ) 1.07 ppm. We compared accuracy soil samples pH 4.8 within 89–98% methods (ICP-OES) potentiometric titration. This technology's portability, easy use, cost-effectiveness make it promising candidate complex matrices.

Electrochemical detection of heavy metal ions in water using MWCNT/ZnO nanocomposite DOI Creative Commons

A nanocomposite of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) decorated with zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) was fabricated via an in-situ hydrothermal approach and implemented as a modified electrode for stripping voltammetric detection dissolved heavy metal ions. The MWCNT/ZnO exhibited high specific surface area 53 m2/g charge transfer conductivity amplified to 26 S/cm. By square wave voltammetry, the sensor achieved wide linear Cu(II) from 1-800 ppb, Pb(II) 5-1000 Hg(II) 1-900 along low limits reaching 0.8, 1.2, 0.7 respectively. 3-5X enhanced sensitivity versus unmodified screen-printed confirms performance gains supplied by tailored hybrid interface. Selectivity testing produced distinct, well-resolved oxidation peaks each ion target that remained unaffected off-target concentrations Mn(II), Co(II), Fe(III) interferents. Accurate spike recoveries between 95-102% were obtained quantifying ternary mixtures across various Cu(II):Pb(II):Hg(II) compositions, substantiating capability simultaneous multianalyte analysis. simple preparation, selectivity, accuracy direct water validates practical portable on-site toxic detection.
