Water crisis around the world leads to a growing interest in emerging contaminants (ECs) that can affect human health and environment. Research showed thousands of compounds from domestic consumers, such as endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs), personal care products (PCPs), pharmaceuticals active (PhAcs), could be found wastewater concentration mostly ng L−1 μg L−1. However, generally, treatment plants (WWTPs) are not designed remove these ECs their discharge levels. Scientists looking for economically feasible biotreatment options enabling complete removal before discharge. Microalgae cultivation is likely approach removing simultaneously any residual organic nutrients. Microalgal growth rate efficiency affected by various factors, including light intensity, CO2 addition, presence different nutrients, etc., parameters greatly help make microalgae more efficient. Furthermore, algal biomass harvests repurposed produce bulk sustainable aviation fuel, biofuel, bioplastic, biochar; this significantly enhance economic viability. Therefore, review summarizes microalgae-based bioprocess mechanisms wastewaters highlights strategies improve efficiency. shows role profile relevance using ECs-treated green products, well challenges future research recommendations.
