Abstract Leisure-time physical activity is beneficial for health and associated with various urban characteristics. Using the exposome framework, totality of environment, this study investigated how environments were leisure-time during early midlife. A total 394 participants (mean age: 37, range 34-40) included from FinnTwin12 cohort residing in five major Finnish cities 2020. We comprehensively curated 145 exposures at residential addresses measured three measures: (1) (total LTPA) its sub-domains (2) without commuting (LTPA) (3) activity. K-prototypes cluster analysis, we identified clusters: “original city center,” “new “suburban”. Results adjusted linear regression models showed that “suburban” had lower levels LTPA (beta: -0.13, 95% CI: -0.23, -0.03) -0.17, -0.28, -0.05), compared to those center” cluster. The eXtreme Gradient Boosting ranked related greenspaces, pocket parks, road junctions as top important factors influencing outcomes, their relationships outcomes largely non-linear. More more parks correlated higher LTPA. When all-year normalized difference vegetation index within a 500 m buffer fell below 0.4, it LTPA, whereas above levels. To conclude, our findings revealed positive correlation between urbanicity decomposed complexity into crucial determinants. Importance rankings nonlinear patterns offer valuable insights future policies projects targeting inactivity.

In recent decades, there has been a rise in mental illnesses. Community infrastructures are increasingly acknowledged as important for sustaining good health. Moreover, green spaces anticipated to offer advantages both health and social cohesion. However, the mediating pathway between space, cohesion especially proximity characteristics of that trigger these potential effects remain interest. We gathered data from 1365 individuals on self-reported across four satellite districts European cities: Nantes (France), Porto (Portugal), Sofia (Bulgaria), Høje-Taastrup (Denmark). Green space OpenStreetMap was manually adjusted using PRIGSHARE guidelines. used AID-PRIGSHARE tool generate 7 indicators about measured distances 100-1,500 m, every 100 m. This resulted 105 different variables we tested single mediation model with structural equation modelling. Accessible greenness (900-1,400 m), accessible (900-1,500 corridors (300-800 total (300-800), mix uses (700-1,100 m) were significantly associated indirectly also showed negative indirect direct associations larger distances. Surrounding quantity not nor observed no positive any variable distance Our results suggest accessibility, connectivity, use key drive relationship spaces, gives further guidance urban planners decision-makers how design foster improve

Climate change is a pressing global challenge with profound implications for human health. Forest-based climate mitigation strategies, such as afforestation, reforestation, and sustainable forest management, offer promising solutions to mitigate simultaneously yield substantial co-benefits The objective of this scoping review was examine research trends related the interdisciplinary nexus between forests carbon sinks health co-benefits. We developed conceptual framework model, supporting inclusion exposure pathways, recreational opportunities or aesthetic experiences, in co-benefit context. used methodology identify proportion European on forest-based strategies that acknowledge interconnection impacts. also aimed assess whether synergies trade-offs sink capacity has been analysed quantified. This perspective examines renaturing cities, the strategic reintroduction of nature, as a potential solution to negative health impacts rapid urbanisation. By utilising nature-based solutions maximise ecosystem services and reintegrate human natural systems, offers access high-quality, accessible green spaces. Studies suggest such is associated with reduced depression, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease risk. Renaturing also presents opportunities for physical activity daily exposure which can further enhance well-being happiness. However, challenges include ensuring equitable these spaces avoiding gentrification. To achieve this distribution ensure project truly benefits community, bottom-up approach involving residents in planning process crucial. Longitudinal studies evidence from design projects are necessary understand types most effectively improve wellbeing happiness disadvantaged groups. Abstract Background Greenness exposure has been associated with many health benefits, for example through the pathway of providing opportunities physical activity (PA). Beside limited body longitudinal research, most studies overlook to what extent different types greenness exposures may be varying levels PA and sedentary behavior (SB). In this study, we investigated associations characterized by density, diversity vegetation type self-reported SB over a 9-year period, using data from ORISCAV-LUX study (2007–2017, n = 628). Abstract Urban green spaces serve as critical infrastructure for sustainable cities, yet their strategic implementation remains challenging, particularly in developing regions. This study develops a spatial decision support framework optimal space allocation Mzuzu City, Malawi, employing an integrated approach of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Multi-Criteria Analysis, and Analytical Hierarchy Process. Eight environmental socio-spatial parameters were analysed: population density, road network proximity, topographic gradient, elevation, vegetation indices, land use patterns, hydrological features, nitrogen dioxide concentrations. The results indicate that the area's 6.97% (1,099.65 ha) demonstrates high suitability interventions, while 26.48% (4,178.68 is deemed unsuitable. Population density emerged primary determinant, with weight coefficient 0.379.
