In conventional gasoline automobiles, the engine powers air conditioning system and noise can somewhat mask vibration of system. pure electric vehicles, however, absence an makes system’s more noticeable, concentrated in a limited frequency range at constant speeds. As result, aerodynamic from is primary source vehicles. Pipeline silencers are main method for reducing this noise. The current silencer design uses plane wave acoustic theory but when cavity modal resonance occurs, transmission loss error relatively high. This article addresses issue non-planar resonance, studying muffler using finite element to reveal under mode resonance. A dual expansion structure impedance composite proposed, with sound-absorbing materials placed enhance performance. analysis characteristics provides theoretical basis control vehicle systems.

Policies to implement climate-forcing pollution emission reductions have often been stymied by economic and political divisiveness. However, certain uncontested nonregret public health policies that also carry cobenefits with them could provide more achievable policy pathways accelerate the implementation of climate mitigation. An International Society for Environmental Epidemiology Policy Committee endorsed pre-28th Conference Parties meeting workshop brought together experts on environment, diet, civic planning, review current understanding approaches change mitigation reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Promising areas identified as providing included: improving air quality through stronger regulation harmful combustion-related pollutants, advancing healthier plant-based food procurement programs, promoting sustainable transport options, developing infrastructure (e.g., combustion-free buildings), use forcing substances in healthcare. It is concluded cities, states, nations, when aided involved professionals, can advance many practical health, planning improve well-being will serve translate ambitions into action.

Over the past two decades, walkability, accessibility, and urban street culture have become major study topics in several areas of contemporary research, including sustainability, economy, healthy cities, x-minute city. Due to a plethora evidence that supports benefits an accessible walkable neighborhood, many countries cities put place reform agendas prioritize accessibility walkability promote culture. Saudi Arabia is among those countries, as evidenced by goals established Vision 2030. This focuses on City Hail’s efforts enhance its neighborhoods city’s accessibility. looks at how newly constructed pedestrian infrastructure matches people’s expectations it influences people Hail walk. also makes specific suggestions for improvement identifies ways forward. employs three-fold ‘post-occupancy evaluation’ methodology includes qualitative interviews, quantitative surveys, direct observation, focusing community interacts with new streetscapes. recommends designing improved rights-of-way, enhancing sidewalk design continuity, creating buffer zones, boosting shade shelter, increasing safety security. The suggested changes will added benefit strengthening sense residents while promoting mixed-use development, which generally recognized more ‘organic’, natural development path aligns Saudi’s heritage architecture, returning space roots. These findings are crucial shaping city planning beyond emphasizing inclusive strategies create lively communities where walking encouraged enjoyed.

Air pollution poses a significant threat to human health, especially for the vulnerable groups such as children. Given that schools are central their daily lives, ensuring good air quality in these environments is crucial. This study evaluates impact of traffic restriction interventions around by integrating citizen science monitoring data with advanced modeling techniques. From February 4 March 4, 2023, within framework project called "NO2, No Grazie!", NO2 concentrations were measured Milan and Rome (Italy), Italy's two most populated cities, both affected high traffic-related pollution, using passive samplers. The spatial distribution across entire city territories was estimated using Land Use Random Forest (LURF) models. Four scenarios developed alongside business-as-usual one; furthermore, each school characterized social vulnerability its area. In total, 486 samplers analyzed 407 Rome, levels averaging 47.1 μg/m3 42.6 μg/m3, respectively. LURF models explained 64% 53% variability, proximity major predictor. Among 659 1,595 all led reductions. effective scenario reduced 2.7 1.9 on average, maximum observed decreases 11.1 16.1 Schools socioeconomically deprived areas had lower less impacted restrictions. underscores value policies improving schools.

The increasing frequency and severity of climate risks have significantly impacted public health behaviors, particularly sports participation. Understanding how individuals respond to these environmental shocks is crucial for designing effective adaptation policies. This study examines the short-term long-term effects on participation among middle-aged young adults, exploring underlying mechanisms driving behavioral changes. Using data from 2014 2022 China Family Panel Studies (CFPS), this employs fixed-effects models, two-stage least squares (2SLS) estimation, a four-stage mediation model address potential endogeneity uncover causal relationships. Climate are assessed using multiple proxy variables, robustness checks ensure reliability findings. In short term, reduce effect remains consistent across different specifications estimation methods. Mechanism analysis reveals that lower life satisfaction increase digital engagement, both which influence individuals' physical mental health. While initially discourage participation, occurs through engagement indoor exercise, leading improved outcomes. Heterogeneity indicates negative more pronounced in urban western regions, with rural areas experiencing no significant positive effects. highlights inhibitive adaptive responses findings provide insights into adjust their health-related behaviors under stress offer policy recommendations promote targeted interventions.

European cities are under pressure to be at the forefront of climate neutrality while providing inclusive, safe, and sustainable urban mobility. Street experiments being adopted accelerate this transition, yet assessing their impact remains challenging. This study addresses gap by an evidence-based assessment street experiments. The research builds on insights from 20 cities, including 13 EU Cities Mission, regarding expected goals current evaluation barriers. A preliminary quasi-experimental spatial temporal approach is proposed further enriched through identification most relevant mobility domains indicators addressed cities. An exploration data collection technologies undertaken meet cities’ needs, culminating in design a portable easy-to-install laboratory, Labkit, for situ non-intrusive public space interventions. Labkit tested validated open area with constant flow pedestrians, cyclists, e-scooters, vehicles. results testing process, along feedback methodological potential indicators, analysed. concludes discussion opportunities limitations data-driven approaches proposal future directions.

Research simultaneously examining building energy consumption and outdoor thermal comfort within urban environments remains limited. Few studies have delved into the sensitivity of design parameters based on comfort. The purpose this study is to investigate correlations between morphological performance indicators, focusing (UTCI), across different block layouts in hot-humid regions, like Guangzhou. By establishing six fundamental models—three individual unit three group layouts—the research explores both control descriptive through extensive simulation studies. Scatter plot visualizations provide insights impacts various UTCI, facilitating a comprehensive analysis trends quantitative relationships. Additionally, conducts analyses under layout conditions highlight their influences target indicators. findings reveal common trends, such as significant plan dimensions Floor Area Ratio (FAR) efficiency comfort, well differential patterns, varying sensitivities Shape Factor (S/V) Sky View (SVF), collective layouts. Ultimately, offers nuanced understanding morphology’s role creating sustainable, comfortable, energy-efficient environments, providing valuable guidelines for form climates.
