Increasing
air
pollution,
rising
carbon
emissions,
and
urban
shrinkage
pose
significant
challenges
for
sustainable
development
in
China.
Exploring
the
relationship
between
synergy
effect
of
pollution
reduction
mitigation
(SPRCR)
can
contribute
to
systematically
addressing
green
development.
However,
few
studies
have
analyzed
all
three
factors
within
a
unified
analytical
framework.
Therefore,
our
study
takes
288
cities
at
prefecture
level
above
China
as
research
objects
endeavors
apply
Coupling
Coordination
Degree
(CCD),
Multi-scale
Geographically
Weighted
Regression
(MGWR),
Geodetector
(v2.1.0)
analyze
influence
on
SPRCR.
From
analysis,
it
was
demonstrated
that
(1)
general,
inhibit
an
improvement
synergistic
degree
SPRCR,
but
inhibition
is
weak.
(2)
The
this
shows
spatial
heterogeneity,
with
negative
impact
SPRCR
mainly
concentrated
northeast
region.

existing
research
has
focused
on
logistics
carbon
emissions,
understanding
spatiotemporal
emission
cost
dynamics
and
drivers
remains
limited.
This
study
bridges
three
gaps
through
methodological
advances:
(1)
Applying
the
Non-Radial
Directional
Distance
Function
(NDDF)
to
measure
Marginal
Carbon
Abatement
Costs
(MCAC),
overcoming
traditional
Data
Envelopment
Analysis
(DEA)
model’s
proportional
adjustment
constraints
for
provincial
heterogeneity;
(2)
Pioneering
dual-dimensional
MCAC
analysis
integrating
temporal
trends
(2013–2022)
with
spatial
autocorrelation;
(3)
Developing
a
Durbin
error
model
time-fixed
effects
capturing
direct/indirect
impacts
of
innovation
infrastructure.
Based
data
from
2013–2022,
our
findings
demonstrate
U-shaped
trajectory
index
fluctuating
between
0.3483
0.4655,
alongside
significant
heterogeneity
following
an
Eastern
>
Central
Northeastern
Western
pattern.
The
identification
persistent
high-high/low-low
clusters
local
Moran’s
I
provides
new
evidence
dependence
in
reduction
costs,
these
polarized
consistently
comprising
70%
Chinese
cities
throughout
period.
Notably,
econometric
results
reveal
that
foreign
investment
infrastructure
exert
competitive
spillover
effects,
paradoxically
increasing
neighboring
regions’
MCAC,
previously
undocumented
phenomenon
sustainability
literature.
These
advancements
empirical
insights
establish
novel
framework
allocation
planning.

Purpose
Global
warming
and
climate
change
have
recently
become
the
most
challenging
environmental
issues,
mainly
caused
by
greenhouse
gas
emissions,
especially
CO2.
As
a
result,
studying
estimating
shadow
price
of
carbon
has
also
an
important
research
topic.
Design/methodology/approach
In
this
context,
present
study
conducted
systematic
literature
review
on
drivers
(CSP)
over
past
two
decades,
from
2005
to
2025.
The
classifies
synthesizes
findings
43
peer-reviewed
publications
across
industrial,
agricultural
urban
sectors
using
PSALAR
protocol.
Findings
Key
include
technological
advancements,
economic
development,
regulatory
frameworks,
energy
structures
regional
disparities.
Originality/value
An
inclusive
driver
framework
is
developed
classify
CSP
drivers,
assisting
policymakers
in
optimizing
management
strategies
toward
sustainable
development.

Facing
the
double
constraints
of
“double
carbon”
target
and
high-quality
economic
development,
carbon
trading
policy
is
an
important
tool
for
realizing
emission
reduction
commitment;
based
on
perspective
microenterprises,
specific
mechanism
spatial
effect
still
need
to
be
evaluated.
Taking
China’s
emissions
pilot
as
a
quasi-natural
experiment,
this
paper
empirically
investigates
impact
intensity
enterprises
its
action,
neighboring
enterprises,
multi-temporal
double-difference
model,
moderating
Durbin
model
with
A-share-listed
in
period
2009–2019
samples.
It
found
that:
1)
Carbon
will
reduce
different
degrees,
there
are
significant
differences
under
ownership
types,
degrees
marketization
level
digitization.
2)
Under
influence
environmental
uncertainty,
ESG
disclosure
weaken
effectiveness
pre-pilot
stage
policy;
gradual
improvement
mechanism,
ratings
positively
regulate
inhibitory
through
multiple
paths.
3)
effectively
reduces
negative
spillovers
demonstration
competition
driving
behavior

enterprise.
The
research
enriches
paradigm
influencing
factors,
provides
reference
suggestions
