This review critically examines the latest advancements in clay mineral-based photocatalysts for water purification. Clay minerals, owing to their natural abundance, low cost, and unique physicochemical properties, have emerged as promising candidates enhancing photocatalytic efficiency. article delves into various activation methods including acid, alkali, calcination, mechanochemical activation, highlighting roles surface area, creating active sites, improving performance. The utilization of solar energy as a pivotal and sustainable source is increasingly recognized for its exceptional natural properties. This study evaluated an effective approach for the removal of chlorpyrifos (Chp) and atrazine (Atz) pesticides using graphitic carbon nitride photocatalyst (g-CN). Experimental results showed that under solar light, g-CN was able to remove 82.4% Chp 73.6% Atz at initial concentration 10 mg L-1. It also exhibited total organic efficiency 95.3% 84.7% after 150 min. Besides, is more with a degradation around 10% higher than visible light.
