Microplastics (MPs) and nanoplastics have gained significant attention as emerging environmental pollutants due to their widespread presence potential health risks. In recent years, these contaminants been frequently detected in drinking water various beverages, prompting concern about sources effects. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the occurrence MPs beverages exposure assessments. MP concentrations vary significantly across countries regions, influenced by diverse factors such efficiency treatment plants, level pollution sources, condition transportation pipelines. Another critical aspect discussed this is assessment human MPs. Similarly, daily intake shows variation different regions. Beyond concentration water, an equally important factor quantity consumed, which can differ much two orders magnitude between studies. These variations consumption are key focus article, they greatly influence estimation exposure. Furthermore, it discusses limitations current research, emphasizes gaps understanding nanoplastics, outlines future research directions.

This systematic review aims to evaluate the impact of microplastics on female reproductive health by analyzing experimental studies. A comprehensive search was conducted in PubMed, Web Science, and Scopus databases identify studies published between 2021 2023. Studies investigating effects organs, hormone levels, fertility rates, offspring development subjects were included. The quality assessed using Cochrane risk bias tool. total 15 met inclusion criteria. results indicate that exposure significantly affects ovarian function, decreases disrupts levels subjects. Several also reported negative embryo offsprings health. varied, with some showing a high bias. evidence from suggests have detrimental effect However, variation study highlights need for more rigorous research confirm these better understand underlying mechanisms.

The adverse effects of plastics on the environment, wildlife, and human health have been extensively studied, yet their production remains unavoidable due to lack viable alternatives. Environmental fragmentation larger plastic particles generates microplastics (MPs, 0.1-5000 μm) nanoplastics (NPs, 1-100 nm), which can enter bloodstream through inhalation or ingestion. This review examines whether MPs NPs influence blood pressure. To address this question, relevant studies were analyzed based predefined criteria. Due anatomical barriers microcirculatory dynamics, only small are expected under physiological conditions, although pathological states may alter this. In vitro research indicates that negatively affect erythrocytes endothelial cells, while rodent models suggest potential cardiovascular effects. Plastic fibers detected in blood, thrombi, atherosclerotic plaques, various tissues. However, validated data particle-related pressure changes remain lacking. Despite limitations applicability physiology, preclinical circulate bloodstream, interact with contribute vascular damage. Mechanisms such as injury, platelet activation, inflammation, MPs/NPs accumulation plaques elevation but unlikely be exclusive cause hypertension. Further is needed clarify role regulation. Standardized detection methods, real-world scenario-related models, targeted essential assessing risks associated MP NP exposure.

Abstract Microplastics (MPs), as an environmental contaminant, pose a significant risk to both animal and human health through the food water supply chains. Honey, widely recognised safe health‐oriented product, may become compromised if its production process involves non‐biodegradable MPs. This study was conducted systematic review, using comprehensive searches of PubMed, Scopus ScienceDirect investigate effects MP on honey bee health, potential route main species composition contamination in honey. review highlights impacts MPs including mortality, sucrose response, habituation, olfactory learning, memory recall, colony performance, body size growth, gut microbiota viral infection. From mechanistic perspective, can disrupt equilibrium microbiota, adversely impact function immune system, undermine neural signalling pathways that are critical for learning processes bees. This study utilized grab and strip testing methods to examine the relationship between three weave structures—plain, twill, satin—and their tensile strengths in both warp weft directions. In addition, microplastic fiber (MPF) emissions from these structures were quantified at different states of laundry process using filtration microscopy. The tests revealed that twill- satin-woven fabrics exhibited higher direction compared orientation. contrast, plain structure showed similar During washing machine, MPF first drainage highest regardless structure. Moreover, satin pattern released most MPFs among common 5054 particles/L. also had weakest strength 3.1 N/cm2 evaluated. results demonstrated a strong inverse correlation weaker (warp or weft) emissions. Among investigated, twill lowest emission, followed by weave, with fabric emitting levels.

Plastic is used extensively worldwide. However, plastic particles that are less than 1000 nm (i.e. nanoplastics) may be hazardous to human cells. Nanoplastics might manufactured intentionally or formed in the environment by degradation of larger items. Ingestion and inhalation two most common routes exposure nanoplastics, indicating epithelial cells have direct exposure. immune will also interact with during tissue inflammation. An assessment published studies suggests polystyrene (PS) generate higher levels DNA damage compared cells, although it has not been formally studied under same experimental condition. To investigate this, we assessed cytotoxicity, oxidative stress strand breaks lung (A549) intestinal (Caco-2) monocytes (THP-1 U937) after amine-functionalized (PS-NH2) declared particle size 240 nm.
