Background: Patients with cancer present a higher risk of vaccine-preventable diseases. Recommended vaccinations are the most cost-effective measure to reduce transmission and related complications. Nevertheless, vaccination rates inadequate. Oncologists have central role in tailored vaccine communication their patients. We results survey conducted by AIOM 2022, focusing on perception problem oncologists. Materials Methods: An anonymous 31-item online questionnaire was shared 15 September 2022 website. The objectives this were examine Italian oncologists diseases main available vaccines, attitude towards recommending vaccines COVID-19 pandemic impact habits regarding Results: Between January 2023, 114 medical (5% members) completed questionnaire. At first oncological visit, only 30% respondents usually propose schedule all patient, 41% do not discuss at visit 29% recommend exclusively specific categories For 56% respondents, patients more aware benefits whereas 36% reported that worried receiving too many vaccines. Conclusion: This is among better understand attitudes vaccination. It highlights urgent issues educating training awareness need build (or implement) network multidisciplinary collaborations.

Patients with solid tumors present a higher risk of infectious diseases worse outcomes compared immunocompetent patients. Prolonged treatment prophylactic and empirically chosen antibiotics health care-acquired infections can predispose patients cancer to antimicrobial-resistant (AMR) organisms. AMR is global priority affect cancer. The outcome worsens dramatically if multidrug-resistant (MDR) microorganisms cause infections. Moreover, the emergence MDR organisms increases care costs. Antimicrobial stewardship programs be useful monitor improve use in all oncological settings, including palliative setting. Awareness magnitude these issues still low, so it important inform educate oncologists. This narrative review aims illustrate main evidence on caused by tools that oncologists should have enhance their multidisciplinary management.

Respiratory viruses ravage the world and seriously threaten people's health. Despite intense research efforts, immune mechanism underlying respiratory virus-induced acute lung injury (ALI) pulmonary fibrosis (PF) has not been fully elucidated. Here, cascade of monocyte-derived macrophages to influenza A virus infection is monitored on an optimized human alveolus chip reveal role in development ALI PF. We find that viral causes damage alveolar air–liquid barrier release inflammatory cytokines, which induce M0 gather polarize M1 phenotype at damaged site through recruitment, adhesion, migration, activation, leading ALI. Afterward, into M2 phenotype, then transform myofibroblasts, followed by enhanced secretion various anti-inflammatory cytokines profibrotic promote Our study provides insight pathogenesis PF, will assist therapeutic strategies drugs for treating other infections.
