This paper examines the present status and challenges associated with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) as a promising solution for accelerating energy transition, improving grid stability reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Abstract High performance and comfort are key features recommended in hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) design. In this paper, a new coordination strategy is proposed to solve the issue of undesired torque jerks large power ripples noticed respectively during drive mode commutations sources switching. The coordinated switching uses stair-based transition function perform source switching’s within defined periods fitting transient dynamics traction machines. technique applied on battery/ supercapacitor whose ensured by two permanent magnet synchronous machines controlled using direct control linked HEV front rear wheels. Simulation results highlight that has noteworthy positive impact enhancing as DC bus fluctuations were reduced narrow band 6 V almost suppressed.

Addressing harmonics, voltage sags, swells, and asymmetrical variations is essential to seamlessly integrate renewable energy sources, electric vehicle charging stations, power electronics devices into grids. These issues can significantly impact the sinusoidal symmetry of waveforms. Series Active Power Filters (APFs) present a promising solution that dramatically improve quality (PQ) by effectively addressing distortions. This paper first identifies several topology-related impracticalities in existing literature on series APFs, such as using nonlinear loads or linear with current source. Secondly, understand motivations behind these impracticalities, commonly used reference extraction methods, namely, Instantaneous Reactive Theory (IRPT) Synchronous Reference Frame (SRF), are tested practical topology consisting distorted source RL load. Results conducted MATLAB/Simulink environment show IRPT fails extract signal under topology, SRF leads unacceptable THDs surpassing 5% threshold mandated relevant standards set forth for applications. Thirdly, matrix pencil method (MPM), model-based parameter estimation technique exploits waveform's underlying exponential model APF's voltage, proposed. Extensive simulations showcase superior performance MPM-based APF. It successfully reduces total harmonic distortion (THD) below 1.13% across various scenarios, including situations involving harmonic-polluted incorporating loads, sag swell phenomenon, capacitor utilization DC link implementation. © 2017 Elsevier Inc.
