Herein, a facile strategy was proposed to enhance the gas sensing performance of SnO2 for H2 by regulating its crystalline phase composition. Sn-based metal–organic framework (Sn-MOF) precursors with different morphologies were synthesized introducing surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB). Upon calcination, these yielded either mixed-phase (orthorhombic and tetragonal, SnO2-C) or single-phase (pure SnO2-NC) nanoparticles. Structural characterization tests revealed that SnO2-C exhibited high response 7.73 100 ppm at 280 °C, more than twice SnO2-NC (3.75). Moreover, demonstrated faster response/recovery time (10/56 s), selectivity, ppb-level detection limit (~79 ppb), excellent long-term stability. Notably, although addition CTAB reduced specific surface area SnO2, resulting lower minimized oxygen exposure during facilitating formation heterostructure. In addition, calcination atmosphere (flowing air Ar) adjusted further investigate role crystal in performance. The results clearly superior performance, achieving higher sensitivity H2. These findings underscored critical engineering design high-performance materials.
