The widespread deployment of anion exchange membrane unitized reversible fuel cells is contingent upon the development stable and efficient non-precious metal electrocatalysts for hydrogen oxidation reaction (HOR) evolution (HER). This study reports on synthesis Mo-doped Ni/NiO hetero-nanoparticles supported oxygen-deficient NiMoO4 (NiMoOX), with tannic acid (TA) integrated as both a carbon source stabilizing agent (Ni/NiO-Mo/C@NiMoOX). In situ Raman spectroscopy elucidates mechanism through which TA enhances electrocatalytic activity. resultant catalyst demonstrates superior HOR/HER performance, featuring current density 2.5 mA cm−2 at 100 mV overpotential HOR, remaining 24 h, in HER, exhibiting remarkably low just −12 −10 cm−2, stability persisting over 300 outperforming commercial Pt/C catalyst.
