Coal-based needle coke (CNC) is an ideal carbon precursor for capacitive materials due to its layered graphitic structure and high electrical conductivity. However, the pore-rich engineering structural inheriting of CNC-derived during conventional activation process present challenges. Herein, a surface oxygen catalytic pore tailoring strategy developed manipulate porous structures carbon. This synthesis uses air oxidation form oxygen-rich microregions on CNC surface, which can effectively tear graphite protective shell, accelerate bonding KOH with groups, catalyze etching reaction between potassium compounds atoms. Thanks low temperature 600 °C alkali-to-carbon ratio 1:1, obtained (PC) inherits long-range from CNC, specific areas be adjusted 182.6 855.4 m2 g–1 by adjusting temperature, far more than that PC (7.6 g–1) derived direct activation. The optimized shows capacitance 308.3 F at 0.5 A retention 212.2 20 68.8%. assembled supercapacitor delivers energy density 8.12 Wh kg–1 power 50.0 W ultralong cycle stability 99% Coulombic efficiency 100% after 50,000 cycles. study validates feasibility catalysis in soft enhancing capacitance.

In order to improve the energy density and stable operating voltage of supercapacitor, asymmetric supercapacitors (ASCs) are designed utilizing mesoporous carbon (MC) as anode, activated (AC) cathode, 1 mol kg −1 (1 m ) tetraethylammonium tetrafluoroborate/propylene carbonate (TEA‐BF 4 /PC) electrolyte. ASCs, MC anode provides broad ion transport channels significant charge storage capacity for TEA + , while AC with its large specific surface area, offers numerous adsorption sites BF − . Benefiting from different porous materials matched adsorbed ions, ASCs significantly enhance rate performance high‐voltage stability device. Electrochemical testing demonstrates that AC//MC exhibit an outstanding discharge capacitance 121 F g at a current 0.1 A 3.2 V, which is sustained about 65% 10 Additionally, device achieves remarkable 43.3 Wh largest power 7.3 kW This work theoretical direction design electrode process optimization in high‐specific‐energy double‐layer capacitors.
