Coatings can achieve the property of changing color with temperature variations by adding thermochromic microcapsules, which bring a variable surface to substrate. Ultraviolet ray (UV)-cured primers have advantages fast curing rate, low-temperature curing, and low pollution. Thermochromic microcapsules expand application range UV primers. were synthesized through an orthogonal test, using crystal violet lactone, bisphenol A, decanol as core materials in 1:4:50 mass ratio, urea formaldehyde resin wall material. The effects addition batches urea, ratio solution hydrophilic-lipophilic balance (HLB) value emulsifier, core-to-wall on yields, encapsulation rates, differences (ΔE), releases during synthesis investigated. results normalized, ΔE primary reference for analysis. indicate that HLB emulsifier was key factor affected microcapsule performance. In single-factor adjusted within 6.00 10.00. It found when 10.00, exhibited best comprehensive performance, yield 43.29%, rate 45%, 4.60, concentration released 1.310 mg/L. 11# optimal morphology better performance compared 14# microcapsules. Different amounts these added primer investigate mechanical optical properties primer. main component polyurethane acrylic resin, propylene glycol diacrylate, hexanediol diacrylate. When at 10%, fracture elongation 17.44%, roughness 0.15 μm, visible light transmittance 83%. Microcapsule technology used modify primers, endowing them expanding
