To cope with water crisis, wastewater reuse has been introduced as a potential source for irrigation. On the other hand, irrigation may negatively affect surroundings. In this study, reed plant (Phragmits australis) and its biochar were tested low-cost treatments to enhance efficiency of reclamation in wetlands within only 72 h. The investigated was low quality exhibited high contents BOD5 fecal coliform. Moreover, contained levels soluble cations anions; besides, being marginally contaminated Cu, Mn Cd. After 2 days sedimentation unit, subjected three parallel (each lasted 24 h): (1) "sand & gravel bed", (2) "reed plants grown on sand bed" (3) "biochar + bed". results showed that all decreased BOD5, coliform, total anions, superiority second third treatments. potentially toxic elements also values permissible levels. Although aforementioned treatment processes upgraded water, it remained poor grade. Biochar or beds significantly improved medium grade, treatment. conclusion, are guaranteed reclamation; yet, further protocols should be followed achieve safe handling attain sustainable goals.

Plant combination and rhizobacterial bioaugmentation are the modification of constructed wetlands (CWs) to promote detoxification leachate. In this study, characterization leachate was carried out ensure maximum concentration that did not affect plant's growth. The phytodetoxification test by comparing addition without detox parameter Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Biological (BOD), Total Suspended Solid (TSS), Nitrogen (TN), Cadmium (Cd), Mercury (Hg). Results showed plants could still live largest 100%. were identified bioaugmented reactor Bacillus cereus, Nitrosomonas communis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Phytodetoxification a single plant efficiency ranged between 40% 70%. can improve percentage COD 80.47%, BOD 84.05%, TSS 80.05%, TN 75.58%, Cd 99.96%, Hg 90%. These modifications very influential through uptake rhizodegradation processes.
