Biosurfactants are molecules of 21st century. Their application(s) intercedes in daily life living beings. Major limitation the wide applicability biosurfactant(s) is economicity production. To overcome this several strategies can be employed. This review centered on recent technological advancements biosurfactant research. The advancement(s) include use metabolomic and sequence based omics approaches that has become a high-throughput indispensable tool for identification producers. A plethora microorganisms synthesize biosurfactants, along with other value-added products namely ethanol, microbial lipids, polyhydroxyalkanoates been reported. significantly improve economics overall process limitations further dealt by employing metabolic engineering approaches. Tailoring strategy enables modification composition congeners produced improves yield biosurfactant. Bio-based surfactants have shown promising results against combating pollution terrestrial aquatic ecosystems either increasing their bioavailability or aqueous solubility. Owing to ever-increasing market biosurfactant(s), summarized technologically feasible research may enable researchers develop more safer reliable technologies.
