Layered double hydroxides (LDH) are widely used in a variety of industries due to their unique structural characteristics. It is essential comprehend the environmental behavior and toxicological impacts these substances address potential risks caused by LDH release into environment. In this study, CuFe Cobalt (Co)-doped LDHs were synthesized toxicities Chlorella vulgaris investigated. scanning electron microscope images, Co-doped undoped catalysts appeared as uniformly dispersed flakes. The X-ray diffraction pattern confirmed successful incorporation Co crystalline lattice LDH. growth C. was negatively affected presence 1 mg/L LDHs, with membrane damage cell wrinkling observed 20 mg/L. LDH-exposed algae exhibited significantly greater decline chlorophyll content compared that algae. However, superoxide dismutase activity elevated algal cells exposed Catalase increased up mg/L, followed at higher doses cells. From an ecological perspective, lack toxicity after doping favorable for aquatic life. extensive characterization, together rigorous assessment, provides new information about safety cobalt aid development safer more sustainable LDH-based products.

NiFe-layered double hydroxide (NiFe-LDH) and La-, Mo- or W-doped NiFe-LDH microparticles (NiFeX-LDH, X = La, Mo, W) were synthesized via the co-precipitation method. Their adsorption characteristics evaluated by removal of methyl orange (MO) hexavalent chromium (Cr6+). The effects metal ion doping type, concentration (0–3at%), pH temperature on MO properties systematically studied. results show that exhibits superior capacity compared to undoped La- Mo-doped at same 1at% level, which is attributed increased layer charge density strong affinity for π-electron systems molecules. NiFeW-LDH-1at% sample demonstrated best performance within W-doping range 0–3at%, achieving a capability 666.67 mg/g with significantly shorter equilibrium time (10–120 min) similar LDH. showed promising reusability, its efficiency remaining 78.3% initial level after five adsorption–desorption cycles. uptake onto NiFeX-LDH was combined effect anion exchange attraction charge. In addition, matched well Langmuir isotherm model pseudo-second-order kinetic model, indicating monolayer chemical adsorption. Furthermore, effectively adsorbed Cr2O72− in aqueous solution, revealing W enhances Cr(VI) performance. maximum theoretical reached 63.25 mg/g, notably higher than pristine adsorbent (53.56 mg/g). Overall, material, as low-cost highly efficient adsorbent, shows great potential wastewater treatment application.
