Traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs) have been regularly prescribed to treat and prevent diseases for thousands of years in the eastern part Asian continent. Thus, when coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) epidemic started, TCM was officially incorporated as a strategy by National Health Commission (NHC) treatment COVID-19 infection. TCMs were used had significant effect on alleviating symptoms, delaying progression, improving cure rate, reducing mortality rate China. Therefore, China’s approved Qingfei Paidu decoction, Xuanfei Baidu Huashi Lianhua Qingwen capsules, Jinhua Qinggan granules, Xuebijing treatment. This review evaluates summarizes use against infectious composition, clinical efficacy, mechanisms NHC-approved “three three recipes” The recipes demonstrated be highly effective COVID-19, but there is lack vivo or vitro evidence. Most available data related potential mechanism based virtual simulation prediction, which acquired via molecular docking network pharmacology analysis. An ongoing outbreak of severe respiratory illness and pneumonia caused by the acute coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) commenced in December 2019, disease was named as 2019 (COVID-19). Soon after, scientists identified characteristics SARS-CoV-2, including its genome sequence protein structure. The clinical manifestations COVID-19 have now been established; nucleic acid amplification is used for direct determination virus, whereas immunoassays can determine antibodies against SARS-CoV-2. Clinical trials several antiviral drugs are ongoing. However, there still no specific to treat COVID-19. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) treatment during early stages China. Respiratory viruses, such as severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV)-1, SARS-CoV-2, influenza A and syncytial virus, pose a serious threat to society. Based on the guiding principles of "holism" "syndrome differentiation treatment", traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has unique advantages in treatment virus diseases owing synergistic effect multiple components targets, which prevents drug resistance from arising. According TCM theory, there are two main strategies antiviral treatments, namely "dispelling evil" "fu zheng". Dispelling evil corresponds direct inhibition growth fu zheng immune regulation, inflammation control, tissue protection host. In this review, current progress using TCMs against viruses is summarized according modern biological theories. The prospects for developing discussed provide reference research development innovative with components, low toxicity.

Importance

Interpreting results from randomized clinical trials (RCTs) for COVID-19, which have been published rapidly and in vast numbers, is challenging during a pandemic.

Objective

To evaluate the robustness of statistically significant findings RCTs COVID-19 using fragility index.

Design, Setting, Participants

This cross-sectional study included trial articles that randomly assigned patients 1:1 into 2 parallel groups reported at least 1 binary outcome as abstract. A systematic search was conducted PubMed to identify on until August 7, 2021.

Exposures

Trial characteristics, such type intervention (treatment drug, vaccine, or others), number events, sample size.

Results

Of 47 included, 36 (77%) were studies effects treatment drugs, 5 (11%) vaccines, 6 (13%) other interventions. total 138 235 participants these trials. The median (IQR) index 4 (1-11). medians (IQRs) indexes interventions 2.5 (1-6), 119 (61-139), 4.5 (1-18), respectively. among more than half less 1% each size, although proportion events needing change would be much higher.
