eye
disease
(DED)
is

study
examined
therapeutic
potential
of
crocin
nobiletin,
two
naturally
derived
compounds
with
well-known
antioxidant
anti-inflammatory
properties,
in
mouse
model
DED
induced
lacrimal
gland
excision
(LGE).
Thirty
female
Balb/c
mice
were
divided
into
five
groups
(n
=
6
each):
Control
(sham
surgery),
untreated
DED,
nobiletin-treated
(32.75
µM),
crocin-treated
(34
1%
betamethasone-treated
DED.
Treatments
administered
three
times
daily
for
28
days.
Ocular
tissues
evaluated
using
Hematoxylin
Eosin
(H&E)
staining
fluorescein
staining.
Conjunctival
cytokines,
including
interleukin-6
(IL-6),
interleukin-1
beta
(IL-1β),
tumor
necrosis
factor-alpha
(TNF-α),
measured
enzyme-linked
immunosorbent
assay
(ELISA).
Histological
analysis
showed
that
nobiletin
treatment
exhibited
reduced
disruption,
keratinization,
cell
infiltration
compared
to
group.
The
ELISA
revealed
both
efficiently
inhibited
production
pro-inflammatory
cytokines
IL-6,
TNF-α,
IL-1β,
which
are
key
mediators
pathogenesis.
Fluorescein

confirmed
protective
impact
on
integrity.
