Abstract Background CLTI is a life and limb threatening condition that associated with gradual overall decline in health under explored. We aim to measure the prevalence of correlated conditions (frailty, sarcopenia anaemia) patients assess their ability perform activities daily living (ADLs) alongside multimorbidity, polypharmacy clinical outcomes. Methods FraiLTI multi-centre, prospective, observational study, funded by National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) supported Vascular Endovascular (VERN). All dedicated vascular centres were eligible participate. Ethical approval (21/PR/0750) was granted on 13/07/2021. Primary outcome identification rates frailty, anaemia. Secondary outcomes included multimorbidity. Analyses associations between frailty sarcopenia, Results By Rockwood Clinical Frailty Scale, 43 (51.8%) frail. grip strength, 27 (33.3%) sarcopenic. found (53.8%) anaemic, an overwhelming majority (92.1%) having normocytic Multimorbidity seen 57 (67.9%) 67 (79.8%) met definition polypharmacy. Patients who frail, more likely require walking aid (p<0.001), be medications (p=0.027), have co-morbidities (p=0.002), diabetic (p=0.016), sarcopenic (p=0.018), fail walk speed test (p=0.040) self-report low activity (p<0.001). considered strength tended older (p=0.031), (p=0.049), anaemic (p=0.004). Conclusion This study shows anaemia are highly prevalent those CLTI. There also appears important interaction anaemia, but not The management extends beyond revascularisation alone.

The association between muscle defects and hypertension is well-established. However, the absence of pertinent uncomplicated clinical indicators presents a challenge. Relative strength (RMS) may offer viable indicator. This study aimed to explore RMS hypertension.A total 12,720 individuals aged ≥ 45 years from 2011 wave China Health Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) were included. Grip was recorded appendicular skeletal mass (ASM) estimated using validated mathematical formula. calculated as ratio grip ASM. Hypertension determined based on previous diagnosis, history medication use, current blood pressure. Logistic regression models employed investigate relationship hypertension. The prevalence 41.7% (5,307/12,720 patients). negatively correlated with an OR (95% CI) 0.68 (0.59-0.79) for males, 0.81 (0.73-0.90) females, 0.78 (0.72-0.85) entire population after adjusting related covariates including age, education, marital history, smoking drinking diabetes, hyperlipidemia, obesity. trend test showed linear among or population. Stratified analysis consistent negative correlation hypertension.Higher independent protective factor against efforts promote be beneficial prevention management hypertension.

Abstract Background The association between sarcopenia and cardiovascular disease (CVD) is well known. However, the clinical diagnosis of complex not suitable for early identification prevention CVD. Relative muscle strength (RMS) a relatively quantitative straightforward indicator, but its with CVD remains unclear. Hence, objective this research was to investigate correlation RMS incidence. Methods This cross-sectional study, using data from China Health Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) in 2011. events were assessed through self-reported physician diagnoses. determined by dividing maximum grip appendicular skeletal mass (ASM). study used multivariate logistic regression restricted cubic spline (RCS) curves explore Additionally, we conducted subgroup analyses provide additional evidence supporting two variables. Results A total 8,733 people included our 1,152 (13.19%) patients 7,581 (86.81%) non-CVD patients. When grouped according quartiles (Q) RMS, inverse remained statistically significant even after controlling all potential confounding factors. Compared participants Q1 ORs (95% CIs) among those Q2-Q4 0.99 (0.83, 1.17), 0.81 (0.67, 0.98), 0.70 (0.57, 0.85), respectively. Moreover, RCS results showed negative linear incidence (P nonlinearity = 0.555). Subgroup analysis revealed no interaction any groups except sex group 0.046). Conclusion Our indicated stable helpful

Abstract Objective Frailty poses a crucial risk for postoperative complications in the elderly, with sarcopenia being key component. The impact of on outcomes after total hip arthroplasty (THA) is still unclear. This study investigated potential link between and among elderly THA patients. Methods Totally 198 older patients were enrolled this study. Sarcopenia group was determined by assessing skeletal muscle index, which measured using computed tomography at 12th thoracic vertebra analyzed semi-automatically MATLAB R2020a. Propensity score matching (PSM) employed to evaluate grade II above (POCIIs). Results variables balanced PSM contained age, sex comorbidities including hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia COPD. Before PSM, sarcopenic reduced BMI (24.02 ± 0.24 vs. 27.11 0.66, P < 0.001) showed higher POCIIs rates (48.31% 15%, = 0.009) more walking-assisted discharge instances (85.96% 60%, 0.017) compared non-sarcopenia After maintained (23.47 0.85 0.002), increased (54.41% 0.002) heightened reliance walking assistance (86.96% 0.008). Conclusion exhibited incidence poorer physical function discharge. could serve as valuable prognostic indicator undergoing elective THA.

Hip fracture is a significant global public health issue. The link and mechanisms between frailty index (FI) hip remain unclear. This research examined how anemia mediates the FI fracture. study analyzed data from 2015 China Health Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS), which included 6,326 participants aged 60 above. mediating role of in relationship was using bootstrap analysis linear regression models. After controlling for confounding variables, positively associated with (OR = 1.13, 95% CI: 1.09-1.16; p < 0.001). Anemia also 1.88, 1.33-2.64; Mediation showed that indirectly affected fracture, accounting 18.95% total effect. Subgroup compared non-frail non-anemic participants, frail anemic had significantly increased risk 4.61, 2.80-7.61). However, no interaction observed risk. findings suggest were played association Intervention based on exercise, nutrition medical management can combat reduce may be an effective way to prevent or delay fractures.

Abstract Background Retirement and aging are phenomena that often occur simultaneously lead to various physical psychological changes in older adults. syndrome consists of symptoms such as feelings emptiness, loneliness, uselessness, lack clear understanding future conditions dissatisfaction with one’s performance after retirement. This phenomenon requires interventions adapt these changes. Considering the supportive role nurses, formation support groups an effective intervention adapting transitional stages is emphasized. Aims study aims investigate effect adults’ participation on retirement syndrome. Methods Quasi-experimental recruited a total 80 retired adults meeting inclusion criteria from three Associations (Retirement centers for social security retirees among institutions have been set up by government this organization provide face-to-face offline services retirees, well providing some facilities segment society). Iran, Research samples were randomly assigned two control groups. The demographic questionnaire completed both at beginning study. Then, four group sessions lasting 60 90 min held twice week group, eight weeks end intervention, questionnaires data analyzed using statistical tests SPSS version 16. significance level was p < 0.05 all tests. Results results covariance analysis showed helplessness failure ( 0.001), idleness = 0.027), confusion conflict 0.002) significantly less compared group. In addition, Feeling trying new direction 0.001) higher intervention. paired t-test 0.004), decreased before it, while 0.004) increased. Therefore, there statistically significant difference between components Conclusion show can improve syndrome, leading improvement their quality life satisfaction.
