Abstract Background Heart failure (HF) and frailty are accompanied by a bidirectional relationship, sharing common risk factors including elevated levels of natriuretic peptides inflammation. The aim this study was to compare biomarkers associated with poor clinical outcomes, that is, plasma brain peptide (BNP), N-terminal-pro B-type (NT-proBNP), C-reactive protein (CRP) in patients HF vs. without frailty. Methods From inception until July 2023, PubMed, Scopus, Web Science, Cochrane Library systematic literature search conducted. To evaluate whether is linked greater BNP, NT-proBNP, CRP, meta-analysis using random-effects model used calculate the pooled effects (CRD42023446607). Results Fifty-three studies were included review meta-analysis. Patients displayed significantly higher BNP ( k = 11; SMD: 0.53, 95%CI 0.30–0.76, I 2 86%, P < 0.01), NT-proBNP 23; 0.33, 0.25–0.40, 72%, CRP 8; 0.30, 0.12–0.48, 62%, 0.01) Using meta-regression, body mass index (BMI) age deemed potential moderators these findings. Conclusions Frailty increased concentrations which have been epidemiologically adverse outcomes. NYHA III/IV classification further emphasizes impact population.

Aging is associated with a decline in muscle mass and function, leading to increased risk for mobility limitations frailty. Dietary interventions incorporating specific nutrients, such as pea proteins or inulin, have shown promise attenuating age-related loss. This study aimed investigate the effect of given inulin on skeletal old rats. Old male rats (20 months old) were randomly assigned one two diet groups 16 weeks: ‘PEA’ group receiving pea-protein-based diet, ‘PEA + INU’ same protein-based supplemented inulin. Both showed significant postprandial stimulation p70 S6 kinase phosphorylation rate after consumption proteins. However, PEA INU preservation time together decreased MuRF1 transcript levels. In addition, specifically PGC1-α expression key mitochondrial enzyme activities plantaris These findings suggest that dietary supplementation combination has potential attenuate Further research warranted explore underlying mechanisms determine optimal dosage duration intervention translation human studies.

Abstract Objectives Assessing physical activity and cardiometabolic risk in masters athletes as an example of very high at old age. Methods Forty-three men were studied full factorial design, either sprint or jump-trained (MA, n=10, age 60–75 years), young (YA, 20–35 older control participants (OC, n=11, years) (AC, n=12, years). We performed bio-electrical impedance analysis assessed serum markers lipids glucose metabolism C-reactive protein, structured training hours, habitual via mobile actimetry. Results Body fat was greater OC than MA (23.9 [SD 4.2] % vs. 14.0 5.7] %, p<0.001), also YA YC (both p<0.001). Weekly hours comparable between (7.9 [SD3.3] 11.1 4.8] p=0.69). Habitual walking distance (7,387 4,923] m/day 4,110 1,772] m/day, p=0.039), so running (667 [SD690] 132 [427] HOMA-index (2.07 1.39] 0.80 0.41], p=0.0039), protein (1.35 1.74] mg/l 0.58 0.27] mg/ml, p=0.018), whereas showed only moderate no effect (all p 0.036 0.07). Conclusions Improved body composition levels are associated with lower risk, which seems more pronounced for insulin sensitivity inflammaging lipid metabolism.

Emerging evidence suggests that systemic inflammatory and nutritional biomarkers, along with derived indices, could serve as predictors for sarcopenia in cancer population. This study aimed to compare these predictors, focusing on the risk index (NRI) evaluate its diagnostic value, sarcopenic patients without cancer.
