The study evaluated the effectiveness of sarcopenia indices neutrophils/lymphocytes, platelets/lymphocytes, AST/ALT, and creatinine (Cr)/ cystatin C (CysC)*100 in predicting mortality hospitalized patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD) aged 60 years or older. This retrospective observational survey was undertaken a teaching hospital western China from January 1, 2017, to December 30, 2022. neutrophil/lymphocyte, platelet/lymphocyte, Cr/CysC*100 ratios were used assess presence sarcopenia, upper quartiles as cutoff value. Information on all-cause obtained through telephone interviews electronic medical records between June 2024, 20, 2024. Overall survival (OS) represented time admission death/final follow-up. Cox proportional hazards models applied determine relationships above parameters all causes. information 523 AD retrieved record system. Of these, 329 finally enrolled, whom over age years. use Cr/Cys C*100 indicator found be effective (24.39% vs. 13.77% for those without, P = 0.024). However, application AST/ALT indicators showed no marked differences non-sarcopenia participants. After further logistic regression analysis correction possible variables, participants had an increased risk death relative without (HR 2.179, 95%CI: 1.175–4.044). that only prediction older individuals not predictors.

ABSTRACT Background Sarcopenia is associated with an increased risk for dementia. This study aimed to elucidate the relationship between sarcopenia‐related indices and cognitive decline in general population. Methods was a cross‐sectional involving 263 participants (163 men median age of 60 years [interquartile range = 53–70] 100 women 58 49–68]) who underwent health examination. Sarcopenia‐related included appendicular skeletal muscle mass (ASM)/height 2 , ASM/body index, handgrip strength (HGS), HGS/upper extremity phase angle (PhA). We examined associations these function using Japanese version Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA‐J). Results Higher PhA, indicator quality, lower mild impairment (MCI) (adjusted odds ratio 0.28 [95% confidence interval, 0.10–0.78], p 0.014), whereas other showed no significant association MCI both sexes. The PhA positively MoCA‐J scores ( β 0.27, 0.005). Moreover, positive correlation subdomains, including memory r 0.22, 0.031), which one earliest manifestations impairment. also correlated 0.24, 0.002). Conclusions potentially novel index detecting sarcopenia

Background From the perspective of active aging, understanding relationship between sarcopenia and multidimensional health status among older adults is crucial for developing targeted interventions policies. Methods Data were derived from China Health Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) 2018 survey. In total, 3392 (aged ≥60 years) included in analysis. Healthy aging was assessed using 38 items across seven domains: cognition, psychological symptoms, vitality, sensory function, mobility, activities daily living (ADLs), instrumental (IADLs). Sarcopenia evaluated following AWGS 2019 criteria. Latent class analysis performed to identify distinct patterns healthy logistic regression models used explore patterns. Results identified two classes: higher (Class 1, 65.0%) lower 2, 35.0%). Older with different types negatively associated compared those without sarcopenia. Heterogeneity analyses revealed that ≥70), females rural residents more vulnerable negative impacts on aging. Conclusion Healthcare providers policymakers should develop strategies prevent manage while promoting adults.
