Abstract Broccoli ( Brassica oleracea var. italica L.), a biennial cool‐season crop of the Brassicaceae family, originates from Mediterranean region and is renowned for its exceptional nutritional qualities. Its increasing global popularity has been attributed to bioactive compounds, particularly glucosinolates their hydrolysis product, sulforaphane, which provide numerous health benefits. Sulforaphane demonstrates protective effects against metabolic diseases such as diabetes mellitus severe conditions, including stroke, myocardial infarction, cancer. Broccoli's low caloric high fiber content makes it an ideal dietary component. by‐products, often considered inedible (stalks, stems, leaves), also have various sustainable applications. These include prolonging shelf life, development agrochemicals, creation nanoparticles, formulation functional foods, beverages, medicines, all at reduced costs. This review highlights broccoli's health‐supporting attributes phytochemical composition, emphasizing potential crop. The study explores use postharvest residues in zero‐waste solutions, highlighting eco‐friendly alternatives with economic benefits food agricultural industries. © 2025 Society Chemical Industry.

Microgreens are gaining prominence as nutrient-dense foods with health-promoting activities while aligning smart agriculture and functional food trends. They rich in numerous bioactive compounds like phenolics, ascorbic acid, carotenoids, which act antioxidants, also causing multiple other biological activities. Using advanced statistical methods, this study investigated Brassicaceae microgreens, identifying kale Sango radish standout varieties. Both contained 16 amino acids, potassium calcium dominant minerals. Sugar protein contents ranged from 4.29 to 4.66% 40.27 43.90%, respectively. Kale exhibited higher carotenoid levels, particularly lutein (996.36 mg/100 g) beta-carotene (574.15 g). In comparison, excelled glucose metabolism (α-glucosidase inhibition: 58%) antioxidant (DPPH•: 7.92 mmol TE/100 g, ABTS•+: 43.47 showed antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli Staphylococcus aureus. demonstrated stronger anti-inflammatory effects, antiproliferative potential. These results, supported by PCA correlation analysis, underscore the dual role of these microgreens nutritious therapeutic additives, addressing oxidative stress, inflammation, microbial threats.
