A highly selective and sensitive method for detecting methotrexate (MTX) in serum samples using a molecularly imprinted electrochemical sensor have been developed. The preparation of the magnetic polymers (MIPs) employed MTX as template, which was synthesized via sol-gel technology. These were then integrated with carbon paste to create MMIPs/CPE (MMPE) sensor. Under optimized conditions, MMPE exhibited outstanding selectivity sensitivity detection, two linear ranges 0.01–0.5 0.5–20.0 μM, detection limit just 1.63 nM. Furthermore, sensor’s practical application sample analysis demonstrated its efficacy, recovery rates between 81.0% 125.0%. This innovation holds promise clinical diagnosis therapeutic applications, facilitating accurate specific samples.
