ABSTRACT The abuse of traditional plastic food packaging has caused severe safety and environmental pollution, urgently necessitating the development green sustainable biodegradable materials. Chitosan (CS) belongs to an inexpensive readily available biopolymer; however, poor mechanical properties weak resistance UV light water make it unsuitable for industry. In this study, a layer‐by‐layer (LBL) assembly CS decorated with anthocyanins as polycationic electrolyte carboxylated graphene oxide (GO‐COOH) polyanionic is used fabricate bio‐based films aim improving comprehensive CS‐based films. results indicate that LBL extremely enhanced UV‐blocking ability (the average transmittance in UV‐B region drops 1.68%), tensile strength (TS) (53.52 MPa), toughness (71.81%), thermal stability, resistance, hydrophobicity contact angle up 109.5°), antioxidant activities films, attributed hydrogen bonds among CS, anthocyanins, GO‐COOH electrostatic interactions between along anthocyanins. addition, show exceptional advantages storage application fresh‐cut apples. general, study demonstrates novel film can be fabricated by technique packaging.

Brilliant Fabrication of Multifunctional Collagen-Based Packaging Films with Rigid-Flexible Coupling Structure Bio-Inspired by Pangolins DOI

Deformable collagen-based films with superior stability and flexibility while meeting intelligent food packaging requirements remains a substantial challenge. Adopt inspiration from the pangolin barrier, desirable film rigid-flexible coupling structure, Col/DA/ZnO/BW, was prepared by utilizing collagen (Col) as rigid matrix, dibenzaldehyde-terminated polyethylene glycol (DA-PEG) flexible cross-linker, ZnO nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) reinforcer black wolfberry (BW) anthocyanins pH indicator. FTIR XRD results demonstrated that uniform matrix constructed covalent bonds hydrogen among film-forming components, evidenced microstructural observations. Notable improvements in performances of resultant included favorable barrier behaviors, UV-light screening capacity, thermal stability, mechanical strength, antioxidant activity, antibacterial efficacy, pH-responsive nature biodegradability. Collectively, designed multifunctional hold great potential smart indicators for sustainable preservation visual monitoring freshness protein-rich pork.

Collagen, as the principal structural component of cornea, has emerged a promising biomaterial for artificial corneal owing to its excellent biocompatibility and degradability. However, mechanical properties current collagen membrane cannot match requirements materials. Inspired by hierarchical lamellar organization native stromal collagen, biomimetic collagen-based repair material was designed via "killing two birds with one stone" strategy. In this strategy, carboxymethyl-β-cyclodextrin (CM-β-CD) incorporated into serving dual functions: regulating in vitro self-assembly process molecules establishing multiple covalent cross-linking sites within network. Concurrently, controlled external shear forces were applied induce anisotropic alignment fibers, effectively replicating highly organized hierarchy characteristic tissue. The resulting exhibited 67% enhancement tensile strength (0.52 MPa) compared pure membranes. Notably, vivo keratoplasty evaluations revealed accelerated tissue regeneration, achieving complete re-epithelialization 14 days versus 28 controls. These findings establish material's potential an advanced engineering applications.
