Phytophthora cactorum is an important oomycetous plant pathogen with numerous host species, including garden strawberry (Fragaria × ananassa) and silver birch (Betula pendula). P. also hosts mycoviruses, but their phenotypic effects on the oomycete have not been studied earlier. In present study, we tested polyethylene glycol (PEG)-induced water stress for virus curing created isogenic virus-free isolate testing viral in pair original isolate. bunya-like viruses 1 2 (PcBV1 & 2) significantly reduced hyphal growth of isolate, as well sporangia production size. Transcriptomic proteomic analyses revealed increase elicitins due to bunyavirus infection. However, presence bunyaviruses did seem alter pathogenicity cactorum. Virus transmission through anastomosis was unsuccessful vitro.

Endophytes represent a ubiquitous and magical world in plants. Almost all plant species studied by different researchers have been found to harbor one or more endophytes, which protect host plants from pathogen invasion adverse environmental conditions. They produce various metabolites that can directly inhibit the growth of pathogens even promote development In this review, we focus on biological control diseases, aiming elucidate contribution key roles endophytes their field with latest research information. Metabolites synthesized are part disease management, application endophyte induce resistance is very promising. Furthermore, multi-omics should be fully utilized plant-microbe research, especially mining novel bioactive metabolites. We believe utilization for management meaningful promising direction lead new breakthroughs effective ecosystem-friendly insecticides fungicides modern agriculture.

Abstract Purpose of Review The collective virome forest trees can be considered to include not only plant viruses, but also viral communities harbored by all tree-associated organisms. In this review, we will concentrate on reviewing recent developments in the two fields tree virology that have received most research input during last 5 years: (1) current knowledge virus diseases affecting and their causal agents (2) fungal viruses (mycoviruses) properties are required for utilizing them biocontrol purposes. Recent Findings discovery mycoviruses has been revolutionized few years due high-throughput sequencing (HTS). This altered our view diversity prevalence, host ranges, transmission routes, effects. Utilization HTS greatly expanded disease etiology revealed commonness cross-kingdom events between fungi, oomycetes, plants, arthropods. Research identified several new restrict growth or virulence pathogenic fungi. Summary Gaining ecosystems is essential understanding evolution improving impacts, ability biocontrol-based environmentally friendly management affect economically important plants beneficial insects, preventing possible outbreaks future. Virus infections play a central role health, symptoms remain often unrecognized may confused with other biotic abiotic damages. However, studies previously unknown as causes suggest responsible far greater economic losses than recognized earlier. many gaps still need filled, particularly infect different species trees, irregular distribution within plant, mode transmission, epidemiology choice hosts regarding crop effect metabolism tree, interaction microorganisms. Mycovirus already deciphered detailed information critical Still, more needed concerning mycoviral stability field conditions, level tolerance against infection, occurrence interspecies mycovirus nature, safety issues related these topics.

The native Japanese population of the fungus Hymenoscyphus fraxineus, causal agent ash dieback in Europe, was screened for viruses using a high-throughput sequencing method. Five RNA were detected 116 fungal isolates sequenced via Illumina RNA-seq platform, with an overall virus prevalence 11.2%. completely by ligase mediated rapid amplification cDNA ends (RLM-RACE) followed Sanger sequencing. sequences appear to represent new species from three established families (Mito-, Endorna- and Partitiviridae), one recognized genus (Botybirnavirus) negative-sense single-stranded order Bunyavirales proposed family "Mybuviridae". highest found mitovirus (7.8%), that had two genomic forms (linear circular), while other each isolate. Co-infection endornavirus also observed infected isolates. Here we describe molecular characterization identified viruses. This study expands diversity H. fraxineus provides basis investigating virus-mediated control Europe.
