In the context of global climate change, sensitivity ecosystem services (ESs) and their relationships to aridity are increasing, areas affected by continue expand. Previous research has largely focused on ES changes in arid regions under intensified conditions overlooked humid semi-humid regions, which more sensitive water loss. this study, we applied a generalized additive model (GAM) analyze nonlinear responses trade-offs regions. The results indicated that at an index (AI) approximately 0.26, trade-off intensity two pairs—carbon sequestration vs. yield habitat quality yield—reached peak. Additionally, structural equation modeling (SEM) based threshold partitioning revealed significant shifts drivers below above AI threshold. with < worsening meteorological soil exacerbated trade-offs, whereas > competition for resources between human activities vegetation became primary driver trade-offs. These findings highlight need targeted management strategies maintain stability provide valuable guidance responding increasing risks.
