Abstract Using a batch thermophilic anaerobic system established with 60 mL serum bottles, the mechanism on how microbial enrichments obtained from magnetite-amended paddy soil via repeated cultivation affected methane production acetate was investigated. Magnetite-amended (MAEs) can improve rate rather than yield. Compared magnetite-unamended enrichments, in MAE improved by 50%, concomitant pronounced electrochemical response, high electron transfer capacity, and fast degradation. The promoting effects might be ascribed to direct interspecies facilitated magnetite, where magnetite function as conduits link oxidizers (Anaerolineaceae Peptococcaceae) methanogens (Methanosarcinaceae). findings demonstrated potential application of for boosting methanogenic performance during digestion.

Although biochar has been reported to promote methane generation during anaerobic digestion, modified is still worth studying due its better performance, such as richer oxygen-containing functional groups and pore structure. In this study, using food waste a resource, novel humic acids–anchored was prepared via hydrothermal method characterized biochar.
