Previous hydrogen researchers have demonstrated the great potential of as a zero-carbon fuel and its wider operational ability to directly replace existing fossil-fuelled internal combustion engines (ICE). Hydrogen direct-injection technology can operate at stoichiometric conditions, fully eliminating intake backfire phenomena, which has benefit low airflow requirements is suitable solution for naturally aspirated ICE platforms. However, significant challenges must be addressed when operating an H2 or near stoichiometric. These include rapid pressure rise rate, high in-cylinder gas temperature consequential higher engine-out NOx emissions. This study provides comprehensive experimental analysis effect water injection on light-duty H 2 engine’s performance, efficiency, burn durations emission. The engine was modified with via centrally-mounted direct injector port-mounted system. included vapour measurements, concentrations other exhaust gases. practical implications these findings are significant. results that emissions were reduced by 79% injected rate 5 kg/h 10 bar IMEP 2000 rpm. reduction in emissions, coupled observed decrease cylinder rise, could substantially improve performance efficiency. At load regions, extended maximum 24 increased torque output 10%. Indicated Thermal Efficiency (ITE) from 41% 16.5 42.5% 18 lower lambda, corresponding intake-air-boost requirement. Of particular note, use decreased under high-load conditions more than 55%, even richer AFR compared pure operation.

This review offers a comprehensive analysis of thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) applied to metallic materials. By reviewing the recent literature, this paper reports on collection technical information, involving structure and role TBCs, various materials coating processes, as well mechanisms involved in durability failure TBCs. Although TBCs have been successfully utilized advanced applications for nearly five decades, they continue be subject keen interest ongoing study world science, with overviews field’s evolution remaining ever relevant. Thus, outlines current requirements main application areas (aerospace, power generation automotive naval industries) properties resistance thermal, mechanical chemical stress different types used, such zirconates, niobates, tantalates or mullite. Additionally, approaches high-entropy multilayer coatings, are presented discussed. analyzing processes issues related delamination, spallation, erosion oxidation revealed. Integrating latest generations superalloys, examining heat transfer mechanisms, could represent key in-depth study.

In response to increasingly stringent emissions regulations and the depletion of conventional fuel sources, integrating carbon-free fuels into transport sector has become imperative. While hydrogen (H2) presents significant technical challenges, ammonia (NH3) could present a better alternative offering ease transport, storage, distribution, with both ecological economic advantages. However, substitution leads high unburned NH3, particularly at loads. Combustion chamber retrofitting proven be an effective approach remedy this problem. order overcome problems associated difficult combustion in engines, study aims investigate effect piston bowl shape ammonia/diesel dual engine on process. The primary objective is determine optimal configuration that offers superior performance under load conditions rates. study, multi-objective optimization used control creation geometries swirl rate CONVERGETM 3.1 code. To maximize indicated thermal efficiency demonstrate influence enrichment synergistic incorporating was implemented. Notably, optimum configuration, featuring 85% energy contribution from ammonia, outperforms others terms pollutant reduction. It achieves over 43% reduction NH3 substantial 31% improvement efficiency.

As emissions regulations become more and stringent conventional fuel sources rarefaction, new alternatives are emerging to address this situation. Dual engines among the promising solutions, offering both ecological economic advantages. However, these often confront constraints linked high levels of unburnt hydrocarbons (HC) at low loads NO x loads. To overcome problems guarantee high-efficiency overall operating loads, exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) is a potential solution. In present experimental study, appropriate modifications have been carried out single-cylinder diesel engine ensure dual operation with EGR. Natural used as primary pilot fuel, respectively. At load operations, EGR rate increased up 35% until reduction hydrocarbons. carefully adjusted, combustion efficiency easily deteriorates due oxygen amount lack in chamber. Also, minimizing prioritized all conditions while keeping thermal sight. addition, variation studied for improving combination technique. This made it possible determine influence load, rate, quantity on response triple challenges reducing HC efficiency. The results show that an adequate 30%, depending conditions, can reduce by >25% increasing around 20%. result accompanied significant reduction, over 90%, emissions.
