Popular, industry, and academic attention is increasingly being paid to Electrically-Assisted Pedal Cycles (EAPCs), also known as electric bikes, or e-bikes. Attention has begun be given ideas of the bicycle a component “electric velomobility” “e-velomobility” particular benefits bicycles over conventional bicycles. We present here effects EAPCs on tangible quantitative levels greenhouse gas emission reductions, increased mobility performance, greater accessibility cycling; intangible qualitative level perceptions cycling those who engage in it, harmonized with transhumanist lines thought order articulate sociotechnical imaginary an augmentation cyclist’s physical body. Through combination original research drawing prior literature, we idea “cyborg cyclist” vision for future e-velomobilities, emphasize ability appropriate technology augment capabilities cyclists, viewing rider machine single unit, while warning possible risks inappropriate types bicycle. Such view, believe, adds much-needed technology-positive view debates, highlights especially EAPC rehabilitative augmentative tool, means displacing more carbon-intensive transportation, particularly private car.
