Abstract Inequalities in health have long been recognized as interconnected with social, economic, and various other inequalities. The application of social justice equity, diversity, inclusion (EDI) frameworks may help expand interdisciplinary perspectives addressing This review study conducted an environmental scan for existing syntheses theories, models, (TMFs) relevant to the EDI. Results from Web Science, Scopus, PubMed, CINAHL, PsychINFO, MEDLINE retrieved implementation science framework intently centered upon inequalities, draws a synthesis postcolonial theory, reflexivity, intersectionality, structural violence, governance theory. Given this high degree relevance objective review, was selected basis expanded synthesis. Subsequent processes sought identify TMFs which could be integrated into base selected, well refine scope study. Based considerations level evidence non-tokenistic integration, following EDI were identified: John Rawls’ theory justice; Amartya Sen’s Capabilities Approach; Iris Marion Young’s theories Paulo Freire’s critical consciousness; race (CRT). focus performed scoped towards minimizing potential harms arising actions intending reduce not collated singular construct, but rather extended separate component assessing inequitable distribution risks benefits given population heterogeneity. Reflexive analysis amended two key decisions: first, integration single helps inform TMFs; second, temporal element sequential-analysis employed over unified output. result consists three-component which: (1) presents sixteen constructs drawn TMFs, consider or reinforcement inequalities; (2) aims de-invisibilize marginalized groups who are noted experience outcomes, acknowledges presence individuals belonging multiple groups; (3) synthesizes seven related equitable dissemination evaluation separated sequential after assessment harms.
