There are a lot similar characteristics between higher but there also many differences among them, especially from health point view. absences both chlorophyll content ability form their own food plants. attributes found in plants represented nutritional activities. findings this review have number practical implications. A applications different fields could be for bioenergy, biorefinery, soil restoration, pharmaceutical fields, study first report on comparative photographic them. An implication most important that should taken into account when integrated energy needed. These will broad use scientific biomedical communities. The utilisation of coated controlled-release fertilizers (CRFs) leads to the persistence residual plastic films in agricultural soils, posing a potential threat crop health. This study investigates impacts four (0.39 %, w/w) derived from CRFs soil, including petrochemical polyether, bio-based castor oil polyester, and wheat straw polyester polyurethane on growth. found that PecPEUR significantly reduced plant height, stem diameter, leaf area, aboveground fresh weight by 24.8 20.2 25.7 %. Through an in-depth exploration transcriptomics metabolomics, it has been discovered all disrupted glycolysis-related metabolic pathways roots, affecting seedling Among them, parts 20.5 In contrast, residue had no discernible impact was attributed enrichment root genes jasmonic acid γ-aminobutyric pathways, thus mitigating oxidative stress, enhancing stress resistance, ensuring normal study, for first time, provides comprehensive insights into effects film growth, underscoring its as promising alternative conventional plastics soil.

Abstract Providing the world’s population with sufficient and nutritious food through sustainable systems is a major challenge of twenty-first century. Fertilizer use driver crop yield, but comprehensive synthesis effect fertilizer on nutritional quality crops lacking. Here we performed global meta-analysis using 7859 data pairs from 551 field experiment-based articles published between 1972 2022, assessing contribution fertilization wide set plant nutrients to (i.e., fruits, vegetables, cereals, pulses/oil crops, sugar crops). On average, application improved yield by 30.9% (CI: 28.2–33.7%) (referring all nutritionally relevant components assessed; carbohydrates, proteins, oil, vitamin C, representative mineral nutrients, total soluble solids) 11.9% 10.7–12.1%). The improvements were largely nutrient- species dependent, vegetables being most responsive. Potassium, magnesium, micronutrients played important roles in promoting quality, whereas combined inorganic organic source(s) had greatest impact quality. Desirable climatic conditions soil properties silt loam, matter 2.5–5.0%, pH 4.5–8.5) supported further enhancements. Considering cross-continent responsiveness, increase was Africa. In nutshell, our findings pave way towards quantitative understanding nutrient management programs responsible nutrition solutions that foster production healthy for human consumption.

Abstract The global food system depends on a limited number of plant species. Plants with unsatisfactory nutritional value are overproduced, whereas the wide variety nutrient-rich species used in earlier times remains neglected. Basing our diet few crops has wide-ranging negative consequences nutrition and security. Although still under-researched, underutilized plants slowly starting to receive increased recognition. These have superior content immense potential contribute security sustainability. This narrative review provides evidence encourage promotion, domestication, commercialization plants. anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, anticancer effects some presented this review. outstanding ability forgotten increase security, boost dietary diversity, reduce malnutrition, enhance human health well-being is demonstrated. main barriers obstacles reintroducing foods reviewed recommendations for overcoming dietary-related challenges re-establishing into presented. expansion use paramount importance. exceptional properties, bioactive potential, proven benefits indicate that these should be strongly supported. Besides benefits, marginalized improve people’s lives many ways, retain biodiversity, develop local economies. Therefore, broader context well-balanced healthy diets.

Nanomaterials (NMs), particularly ZnO nanoparticles (NPs), show great promise in sustainable agriculture for enhancing crop production, mineral nutrition, and food safety. However, custom synthesis of NMs to optimize performance is still a bottleneck. This study synthesized three types (NPs) (nZnO-1, nZnO-2, nZnO-3) with different particle size, charge, dissolution properties were foliar-applied wheat under field conditions. Foliar application nZnO-3 significantly increased grain by 15.2% biological yield 9.5% compared that the unamended control. Both nZnO-2 improved Zn content whole (21.0 15.6%, respectively) starchy endosperm (31.8 13.1%, respectively), enhanced bioavailability (40.9 43.3%, estimated daily intake (EDI) (55.1 23.8%, respectively). Impressively, also reduced Cd concentration (17.2%) although it did not affect level flour. Additionally, all treatments levels crude protein (5.2–15.7%) other nutrients (e.g., S, Fe, Mn) grains. These findings underscore potential tailored NPs biofortification point toward approach agricultural production through controlled platform.

Is there any relationship between plant nutrition and human health? The overall response to this question is very positive, a strong the of plants humans has been reported in literature. nutritional status edible consumed by can have negative or positive impact on health. This review was designed assess importance bioactive compounds for health under umbrella sustainable agriculture. With respect first research question, it found that bioactives (e.g., alkaloids, carotenoids, flavonoids, phenolics, terpenoids) crucial role due their therapeutic benefits, potentiality depends several factors, including botanical, environmental, clinical attributes. Plant could be produced using tissue culture tools (as kind agro-biotechnological method), especially cases underexploited endangered plants. Bioactive production many climate change (heat stress, drought, UV radiation, ozone, elevated CO2), environmental pollution, problematic soils (degraded, saline/alkaline, waterlogged, etc.). Under previously mentioned stresses, reviewing literature, association depending kinds stress observed correlation (or growth factors) might explain these Their accumulation stressed increase tolerance roles. results study are keeping with previous observational studies, which confirmed start from contents, humans. report analyzes pictorial presentation.

Agricultural Research Organisations (AROs) are being urgently called to provide solutions for agri-food system transformation. However, contrasting visions of how transformation should be achieved create difficult choices AROs. This paper reviews existing narratives build four scenarios future AROs: 1. Industry transition-oriented; 2. Technology mission-oriented; 3. The Community innovation-oriented; and 4. Facilitating transformative innovation-oriented. Their analysis uncovers possible risks trade-offs, suggests the need new hybrid organisational forms that incorporate elements from across scenarios. Besides, highlights given broad industry, policy, societal interests AROs, decisions about pathways cannot made unilaterally without broader discussion around shape aims innovation systems in which these organisations embedded.
