Urban public space faces increasing challenges due to the accelerating impacts of climate change, necessitating a paradigm shift in how cities adapt their built environments. This paper presents case study on integrating Nature-based Solutions(NbSs) with urban infrastructure, focusing design and development Oasis, modular multi-sensory furniture system. Oasis functions as adaptation tool, incorporating rain gardens manage stormwater, mitigate heat island effects, enhance biodiversity while smart features such sensors, irrigation systems, lighting, speakers, electric vehicle chargers. Through practice-based methodology, explores transdisciplinary collaboration can inform adaptive, resilient, equitable interventions. The findings demonstrate potential NbS-integrated infrastructure address complexities enhancing social, ecological, technological resilience. results, validated through an integrated checklist, contribute ongoing discussions frameworks, emphasizing multi-layered systemic approach that intertwines architecture, social innovation, multi-species design, sensory engagement reimagine for future

Abstract Young people worldwide are increasingly participating in a global movement for climate justice, yet to date, little research has examined how youth justice activists conceive of and experience activism as education. The present study used in‐depth, semi‐structured interviews with 16 US (aged 15–17) address the question: How do explain educative power their activism? results reflective thematic analysis bring light youths' dual roles ‘learners movement’ ‘climate educators’. As learners, described gaining awareness directly from movement, well learning variety skills (e.g., organising, communication, conflict resolution) through activist engagement. Simultaneously, role educators range activities intended raise among adult audiences, including educational workshops trainings, school visits, teach‐ins, curriculum development, talk shows interviews, creating digital resources, social media outreach public protest strikes, marches demonstrations). Beyond spreading knowledge in/justice, were also action change processes—noting that about governmental institutions political processes enabled them exercise democratic citizenship equip embolden other young same via advocacy trainings). findings have implications curricula not only attend scientific technological dimensions crisis, but enable learners' justice‐driven participation.

Sea level rise and increasing frequency intensity of coastal storms are driving the need for managed retreat relocation at risk populations. Managed through voluntary buyouts is typically studied either from perspective buyouts’ process or focused on those who leave, but little attention given to what left behind. How do impact staying behind, their senses justice ? We examine this question low-lying majority-minority neighborhood Edgemere, Queens in New York City where Superstorm Sandy a long history failed urban renewal have led large amounts vacant land. This study analyzes ongoing intersectional conditi ons residents’ flood vulnerability. It grounds analysis 18 in-depth interviews with local residents capturing perceptions land its reuse, needs. The complemented field observations, semi-structured city agencies involved resilience planning initiatives historical open space plans area. Findings reveal importance elevating understanding place inform possible uses after historically disinvested neighborhoods. Furthermore, they both injustices attachments living prone, disenfranchised They also show how these experiences entangle citywide housing crisis. In conclusion, if post-buyout efforts aspire be just, center past present contextual injustice shapes relationships between distributive recognitional injustice.

Addressing extreme heat has emerged as a key frontier of urban climate adaptation planning. However, most studies have focused on large cities, whereas the existing population lives and growth occurs in small- to medium-sized municipalities within metropolitan areas U.S. globally. We hypothesise based structuration theory that these smaller face fundamentally different constraints opportunities enhance their planning capabilities than cities. Accordingly, this study we analyze capacity, current activities, expansion cities across two neighbouring but distinct regions California: northern Los Angeles County (n = 20) southern San Joaquin Valley 38). Using data from 58 first comprehensively reviewed heat-related activities documents. then conducted 17 semi-structured interviews with local government planners, consultants, utilities' staff more holistically how implementation ground. The document analysis shows narrow majority identified general issue concern. common long-term resilience strategies were enhancing tree canopy, green infrastructure, shade structures, both prevalence strategy type vary by exposure level, size, socioeconomic status interviews, generally found while officials had high levels awareness, they low capacity deployed interventions compared other efforts.

Climate change demands innovative and holistic approaches to urban design that address both the tangible intangible challenges posed by a rapidly evolving environment. This article explores necessity of transdisciplinary approach climate adaptation in spaces, emphasizing integration architecture, social innovation, more-than-human design, multisensory analysis. We examine current controversies architectural solutions adaptation. Drawing on state-of-the-art from key fields, we discuss potential Nature-based Solutions, co-creation practices, multimodal create adaptive spaces physical, emotional, needs human inhabitants. The reviews emerging frameworks case studies, including shelters, biodiversity-inclusive soundscapes smellscapes, demonstrate importance considering diverse perspectives stakeholders. By synthesizing these findings, propose an integrated framework for moves beyond traditional overlapping layers awareness, ecological diversity, cultural sensitivity.

Ugyanakkor jobban nagyobb valószínűséggel tudtak olyan, akár költségekkel járó, életminőségüket is javító energiahatékonysági beruházásokat végrehajtani. Bemutatja továbbá, mind kedvezőtlenebb, kedvezőbb helyzetű stratégiáiban megtalálhatóak fenntarthatósági szempontból technikák.
