In the midst of COVID-19 pandemic, new requirements for clean air supply are introduced heating, ventilation, and conditioning (HVAC) systems. One way HVAC systems to efficiently remove airborne viruses is by filtering them. Unlike disposable filters that require repeated purchases consumables, electrostatic precipitator (ESP) an alternative option without drawback reduced dust collection efficiency in high-efficiency particulate (HEPA) due buildup. The majority have a diameter ranging from 0.1 μm 5 μm. This study proposed two-stage ESP, which charged particles via positive electrode ionization wire collected them on collecting plate with high voltage. Numerical simulations were conducted revealed continuous decrease efficiencies between 0.5 μm, followed consistent increase 1 For larger than exceeding 90% easily achieved equipment used this study. Previous studies demonstrated suspended influenced both ESP voltage turbulent flow at stage. To improve aerosols multi-objective genetic algorithm (MOGA) combination numerical obtain optimal parameter speed. particle performance was examined under Japan Electrical Manufacturers’ Association (JEMA) standards showed throughout experiment. Moreover, after its design optimized, 3 demonstrating over 95%. With such efficiency, can effectively filter as N95 respirator, eliminating need wear mask building preventing spread droplet infectious diseases (0.08 μm–0.16 μm).
