A green and sustainable electrochemical oxidative cyclization of enaminones with thioamides under metal- oxidant-free conditions has been developed, providing an efficient approach for thiazole synthesis. Furthermore, 1,2,4-thiadiazoles can be selectively accessed via the dimerization in absence enaminones.

Abstract Four complexes were synthesised between bromide cobalt salt and native α‐ β‐cyclodextrins using dichloromethane or ethyl acetate as solvents. These characterised by techniques such IR, TGA UV–vis diffuse reflectance. used catalysts in the sulfoxidation reaction, being β‐CD/CoBr 2(DCM) is more efficient complex. The reaction conditions studied yielded good results with high chemoselectivity, aldehyde sulfoxide functional groups not oxidized under these conditions. evaluation green chemistry parameters showed results. use of EtOAc, a solvent, synthesis highlighted.

Mechanistic investigations have revealed significant influence solvent determining whether excitation leads charge transfer (CT) or energy‐charge (E n ‐CT), thereby controlling Markovnikov anti‐Markovnikov selectivity. Notably, Quantum Theory Atoms Molecules (QTAIM) analysis clearly shows that excited state C=O−H−S involves closed‐shell partially covalent interactions.
