1,3-Dipolar cycloadditions on nitrone dipoles are key reactions to access five-membered heterocycles, which useful intermediates in the synthesis of biologically relevant glycomimetics. The good atomic balance and high stereoselectivity characteristic such make them candidates for development green protocols. In present work, these features were maximized by avoiding use organic solvents considering starting materials derived from biomass. Reactions involving (acyclic cyclic) carbohydrate-derived nitrones as levoglucosenone dipolarophile considered. Performing selected 1,3-dipolar neat conditions showed reduced reaction times, maintaining similar selectivity yields with respect classical microwave irradiation orbital shaking also exploited increase sustainability synthetic collected results highlight potential solvent-free design efficient routes according chemistry principles, prevention, atom economy, safer auxiliaries, renewable feedstocks.

A solvent-free, microwave-assisted approach for the ring-opening reactions of phenyl glycidyl ether with a series commercially available imidazoles and pyrazoles is described. Microwave irradiation allows to proceed rapidly. This straightforward efficiently generated adducts competitive yields compared traditional methods that use conventional heating or organic solvents. technique particularly suited high-throughput screening in drug discovery, offering significant reduction time resource consumption.

Xanthenes are an important class of heterocycles in medicinal chemistry due to their diverse pharmacological properties. These tricyclic aromatic compounds, characterised by a dibenzo[b,e]pyran core with oxygen atom at central position, have gained significant attention for extensive applications. Beyond pharmaceuticals, xanthenes widely used textiles, food industries, electro-optical devices, dyes, and bioimaging agents. Xanthene derivatives, particularly 9-substituted xanthenes, exhibit wide range biological activities, including antiparasitic, antibacterial, antileishmanial, cytotoxic, neuroprotective, photophysical effects, making them valuable drug discovery. The xanthene scaffold is present various bioactive natural compounds such as mulgravanols A B, hermannol, (+)-myrtucommulone D, homapanicones blumeaxanthene II, acrotrione. Clinically relevant xanthene-based drugs include propantheline bromide (antimuscarinic), methantheline (antispasmodic), phloxine B (photosensitiser antimicrobial therapy). Thus, synthetic approaches been developed the construction ultrasound-assisted green methodologies gaining prominence. Ultrasound technique offers advantages over conventional methods, higher yields, faster reaction rates, improved selectivity under milder conditions. This review comprehensively explores synthesis functionalised derivatives eco-friendly alternative. To best our knowledge, this first in-depth focusing on methodology ultrasound irradiation.

Metal-free C(sp3)–S bond cleavage of thioethers was achieved using NCS as a critical additive. A wide range arylmethyl were successfully transformed into aryl aldehydes with satisfactory yields in chloroform. Meanwhile, employing fluorobenzene the solvent enables selective formation dithioacetals from thioethers, achieving moderate to good yields. Notably, first prepared through metal-free and subsequent thioacetalization process. Furthermore, these simple efficient approaches also provide complementary strategies for accessing important dithioacetals.
