Due to global geological events and differences in regional sedimentary environments, marine shale reservoirs of Wufeng-Longmaxi Formation Eastern Southern Sichuan Basin exhibit significant heterogeneity organic matter content mineral composition. In order reveal the influence paleoenvironment evolution on reservoir heterogeneity, key geochemical indicators elements were used reconstruct environment Basin. The mechanism components was also explored. results indicate that can be divided into two third-order sequences (Sq 1 Sq 2). Each sequence is a transgressive system tract (TST) highstand (HST). average TOC highest during TST1 period with reaching 4.2%, while reached its maximum at 3.9% TST2 high paleo-productivity, accumulation quartz eastern region higher than those southern from middle period. However, late lower due dilution terrestrial debris. During HST2 period, clay adsorption preservation condition, slightly increased early stage. At same time, has minerals low strong weathering intensity input coarse-grained debris (silt-size quartz).

Most scholars believe that transgression events can contribute positively to organic matter enrichment and shale gas sweet spot development, while whether or not regression are conducive development remains be further discussed. Variations in carbon content (TOC), major trace elements at the Rhuddanian–Aeronian stage Luzhou area, southern margin of Sichuan Basin, were analyzed this paper. We discuss differences paleoenvironment during regression. A transgressive system tract (TST) occurred early Rhuddanian stage, highstand tracts (Ehst-1 Ehst-2) late Aeronian a (LHST) developed stage. rise sea level TST upper Yangtze resulted an anoxic environment, where continuous upwelling current brought about large number nutrients seawater, significantly increasing paleoproductivity. Strong tectonic subsidence, weak chemical weathering, rising together led low terrigenous debris supply catchment area. Therefore, paleoproductivity redox conditions primary controlling factors with clastic secondary importance. With advance Guangxi orogeny, EHST-1, EHST-2, LHST stages was mainly controlled by supply. comparison key physical parameters geochemical indicators reservoirs from these four suggests two types (type I II) occurring EHST-2 stages.
