Urban parks play a key role in UHI mitigation. However, the of other prominent types urban green infrastructure has not been comprehensively studied. Thus, main objective this study was to evaluate cemeteries and allotments as cooling islands compared well-studied park areas. We assessed LST cemeteries, based on Landsat 8 TM images across five largest German cities during summertime. Random forest regressions explain spatial variability different spaces (UGS) with spectral indices (NDVI, NDMI, NDBaI) well tree characteristics (tree type, age, trunk circumferences, height or canopy density). As result, were identified hottest UGS city means varying between 23.1 26.9 °C, since they contain relatively high proportion sealed surfaces. The allotment gardens best explained by NDVI indicating that fields higher percentage flowering shrubs trees reveal lower values than those covered annual crops. Interestingly, characterized coolest UGS, 20.4 24.7 °C. Despite their surfaces, are dominated old resulting intensive transpiration processes. Parks show heterogeneous patterns which could be systematically due functionality shape. Compared parks, tree-covered areas have potential cultural heritage sites well-protected allowing growth transpiration. These findings underline relevance deepen understanding process.

Abstract Wetlands provide necessary ecosystem services, such as climate regulation and contribution to biodiversity at global local scales, they face spatial changes due natural anthropogenic factors. The degradation of the characteristic structure signals potential severe threats biodiversity. This study aimed monitor long-term Göksu Delta, a critical Ramsar site, using remote sensing techniques. It seeks analyze relationship between these land surface temperature (LST) predict future use patterns through machine learning (ML) methods. In this context, normalized difference vegetation index, modified water bareness moisture index spectral analyses LST maps were generated Landsat 8 Operational Land Imager (OLI) satellite imagery for 1985, 2000, 2015, 2023. Kappa accuracy assessments demonstrated high level agreement ground truth data. Pearson correlation analysis was used assess consistency LST, revealing statistically significant 0.01 level. revealed that Lake Akgöl lost 58.85% its body over 38 years monitoring delta. loss primarily attributed increased human activities. cover model year 2031, developed artificial neural networks cellular automata from ML methods, projected 7.50% decrease in total bodies, 46.94% reduction vegetated areas, 36.85% increase nonvegetated areas. conclusion, it emphasized adverse trends within Delta are expected persist, degrading services values. study's findings can be utilized identify strong strategies protecting

The role of landscape configuration in urban heat island effects is crucial for sustainable planning. This study examines the impact land-use changes on land surface temperature (LST) Muratpaşa District Antalya from 1984 to 2024. Data 1984, 1989, 1994, 1999, 2004, 2009, 2014, 2019, and 2024 were analyzed at five-year intervals. Land-use maps LST data derived thermal infrared bands Landsat-5 TM Landsat-8 OLI-TIRS. values, categorized into seven groups, calculated by converting radiance values spectral radiation Kelvin temperatures. classes, including green land, agricultural constructive water bare identified using interactive supervised classification. Landscape patterns ten indices within framework ecology. ArcGIS 10.8.1 Fragstats 4.2 software used analyses. Findings reveal a significant increase temperatures over four decades, driven expansion. Increased impervious surfaces created more high zones, while reduced spaces intensified effect. A strong correlation between was identified, providing insights management climate change adaptation.

Egypt is experiencing considerable changes in its agricultural areas primarily due to unorganized urban sprawl. These can lead reducing area of the highly productive fertile lands, posing major threats food security and impacting regional environment society. This study assesses land use cover (LULC) Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate, Nile Delta, Egypt, from 1990 2018, proposing a technique that considers cropping seasons using normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) for classification enhancement. Supervised maximum likelihood algorithm was applied spectral bands Landsat satellite images covering period. Results revealed natural reserve Lake Burullus decreased by approximately 6.3% Governorate lost 91.5 km2 between 2010 2018. indicates currently suffers rapid sprawl, leading loss at an annual rate 0.4%. Using NDVI enhanced overall accuracy 4.4%. Regular assessment LULC incorporating higher-resolution data sources essential future planning, mitigation, adaptation strategies.
