This study highlights the challenges in using environmentally friendly corrosion inhibitors a variety of industries by examining effects avocado extract as inhibitor on behavior carbon steel salty formation water (SFW) generated from West Egyptian petroleum fields. A combination weight loss and electrochemical experiments were used to examine properties at different concentrations (20–100 mg L–1). number methods, including scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDAX), UV–Visible analyses employed identify configuration chemical components corroded substrates. This work presents a comparative study of five rare earth compounds—Erbium nitrate pentahydrate lll (Er), Neodymium (Nd), Samarium III Nitrate Hexahydrate (Sm), Yterbium Chloride (Yb) and Praseodymium hexahydrate (Pr)—protecting API 5L X70 steel from corrosion in saline medium that uses electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) polarization curves (CPs) at different concentrations static mode. The results show Erbium is the best inhibitor, containing 50 ppm reaching an inhibition efficiency about 89%, similar result was shown by Sm with IE~87.9%, while other earths (Nd, Yb Pr) showed decrease protection same concentration, since they were below IE~80%. Cotton (Gossypium spp. ), commonly known as the “King of Fibers,” plays a crucial role in global textile industry because its comfort, breathability, and biodegradability. However, their high flammability presents significant safety risks, particularly fire-prone environments, leading to an urgent demand for effective flame retardants. In addition concerns, lack inherent antibacterial properties cotton makes it susceptible microbial growth, resulting odors fabric degradation. This issue has been exacerbated by COVID-19 pandemic, which heightened public awareness hygiene necessity textiles that minimize contamination. Consequently, there surge need treatments textiles, focusing on solutions are both environmentally friendly. Despite this increasing focus, numerous reviews have examined flame-retardant finishing separately. comprehensive analysis integrates functionalities not yet systematically compiled. review aims fill critical gap consolidating existing literature eco-friendly specifically flame-retardant, antibacterial, dual-functional treatments. It evaluates current state retardants, assesses effectiveness various natural agents, explores innovative synergistic formulations designed enhance resistance performance. also identifies future directions development multifunctional meet evolving demands consumers align with regulatory standards, ultimately contributing safer more sustainable solutions.

This study introduces Centaurea napifolia as a novel multifunctional corrosion inhibitor and zinc-electroplating additive previously unexplored in the field. Hydro-methanolic, methylene dichloride, ethyl acetate, n-butanol extracts were investigated for their dual functionality: inhibiting of carbon steel improving performance zinc electrodeposition on mild steel. Using techniques such potentiodynamic polarization, gravimetric methods, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersive profilometry, significant improvements brightness, resistance, coating quality, adhesiveness have been found. Notably, adding 3.2 g/l butanolic extract achieved an optimal rate 0.038 mm/y, substantial improvement over unplated plated samples without additives, reduced current density from 0.3235 mA/cm² to low 0.0033 mA/cm². These showed effective inhibition against acidic environments with efficiencies up 82%, following Langmuir isotherm model physical adsorption being spontaneous exothermic, highlighting potential eco-friendly alternatives metal protection. findings translate economic opportunities industries reliant protection systems by offering that could reduce environmental impact while enhancing durability components used practical or industrial applications.
