Teachers’ professionalism has an important role in improving learning quality. The independent curriculum provides autonomy to teachers and assessment. Pedagogical Practices in Teaching Literature in English in Tanzanian Ordinary Secondary Schools DOI

This study explored pedagogical practices in teaching literature Tanzanian secondary schools, focusing on instructional strategies, materials, and challenges. It involved 352 participants, including 340 students 12 teachers from six schools Chalinze district. Data were collected through interviews, focus groups, observations, analyzed thematically. Findings revealed the use of translanguaging, group discussions, role play, presentations, narrations. Teachers relied printed materials technology. Challenges included a shortage books, low student motivation, poor English proficiency, lack professional teachers. The government provides in-service training to improve practices.
