Purpose The purposes of this study are fourfold: (1) to explore the state ICT competency framework for teachers in higher education, (2) identify general themes and trends publications, key publication resources, authors, affiliations countries domain teachers’ competence (3) investigate relationships among author keywords understand interconnectedness within research on education (4) thematic evolution better current situation future trends. Design/methodology/approach This details bibliometric methodology used terms performance analysis reports results systematically analyzing 275 Scopus-indexed publications from July 25th, 2008 June 7th, 2024. Findings review paper show that synthesized offers greater flexibility enables other HEIs (higher institutes) contextualize these standards developing based their specific needs. Moreover, rigorous reveals increasing exploring competence, driven by growing integration into educational practices.
