Background: It is true that vitamin D did not earn its title as the "sunshine vitamin" for nothing. In recent years, however, there has been a shift in perception surrounding to type of hormone boasts countless bioactivities and health advantages. These metabolites can interact with several nuclear receptors (like related orphan alpha-RORα, gamma-RORγ, aryl hydrocarbon receptor-AhR) trigger various biological responses.
